We Look Forward to These MAJOR Magic Kingdom Changes Every Year
Is it really a trip to Disney World without going to Magic Kingdom? For me, no! I have to see the castle and walk down Main Street, U.S.A., but a few other team members think Animal Kingdom is enough. But have you had an ice cream bar and popcorn while watching fireworks?
Magic Kingdom is the highlight of the Disney World trip, but it’s about to go through some major changes, so here’s a heads up before you throw on your Mickey ears and start walking under the train station.
Starting November 1st, Disney World will begin transitioning from Halloween to Christmas! Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party ends on October 31st, and then it’s Christmas all the way through Magic Kingdom.
Back in the day (okay, it wasn’t that long ago, we all remember it), Disney used to rip down the Halloween decorations and completely decorate for Christmas overnight, so one day you’d see pumpkins and the next, you’d see wreaths and candy canes. While the transformation starts in the first week of November, in recent years, we’ve found they usually do it in phases instead of one overnight transformation.
Some think that makes it a little less magical, but it’s pretty fun to go to the parks every day and look for new decorations. Last year, Disney surprised us by putting out themed Christmas trees and wreaths in the different lands of Magic Kingdom, which is such a nice touch.
Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party runs on select nights from November 8th to December 22nd, and we usually find all the decorations are up before the first party night. That gives them about a week to get everything up in the Magic Kingdom. Spreading out makes sense because they have four theme parks and plenty of resorts to decorate, and Magic Kingdom is decked to the nines, with massive trees, tons of lights, and a few ride overlays, like the Jingle Cruise, to work on.
Wait, did I say ride overlay? Sure did! The Jungle Cruise transforms into the Jingle Cruise on November 3rd, and the skippers will start telling holiday-themed jokes while you take in the scenes with new holiday additions.
Back to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. This event is an after-hours party, so you need to buy an additional ticket to access the exclusive entertainment, snacks, and characters. Tickets are already starting to sell out, so if you have limited dates you can attend, grab yours sooner rather than later.
We can’t wait for Magic Kingdom to go from orange and black to red and green, and we’re taking you along. We’re sharing all the holiday happenings right here at Disney Food Blog, so keep following along for more.
