This Fan Favorite Character is Helping Walt Disney Imagineering With a New Announcement

Welcome aboard the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover — your quiet and carefree highway in the sky. We invite you to sit back, relax, and enjoy your grand circle tour of Tomorrowland.

During your ride on the PeopleMover, the narrator tells you about the different attractions around Tomorrowland in Disney World. A fan favorite part of the spiel is “Paging Mr. Morrow — Mr. Tom Morrow. Please contact Mr. Johnson in the control tower to confirm your flight to the moon.” Well, Mr. Morrow is making a special appearance soon!

Walt Disney Imagineering teased that Tom Morrow 2.0 is back to answer some questions about Imagineering on Imaginner That. You can find this video series on the Walt Disney Imagineering YouTube channel on Monday, August 25th.

Since the teasers have started, fans are already guessing what they think it will be. Some of the other YouTube videos have shown us behind-the-scenes looks at new and upcoming attractions or shows. We recently saw one for Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away, the new nighttime parade at Magic Kingdom.

When Tiana’s Bayou Adventure was being built, we saw the animatronics before they made their way to the bayou.

They’ve even shown clips from the new Disney Destiny Hercules show, which has me wanting to book a cruise immediately.

Some commenters are guessing an update to Tomorrowland in either Magic Kingdom or Disneyland.

Others think there might be something new coming to EPCOT, given references like Spaceship Earth and World of Motion.

The whiteboard behind Mr. Morrow has a list of upcoming projects that we’ve been following for a while, including Walt Disney: A Magical Life, Disney Starlight, Disney Cruise Line Destiny and Adventure, and Beak & Barrel. There are tons of projects in the works right now, and Disney just dropped major updates on Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin, Beak & Barrel, Zootopia: Better Zoogether coming to the Tree of Life, and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster starring The Muppets.

Do you think the update will be on some of these projects or bigger ones we haven’t received updates on?  With Destination D23 around the corner, this is usually the place to make huge announcements around the parks, but now we’re wondering if we’ll get all the information early!

Tom Morrow is originally from the Disneyland attraction, Rocket to the Moon, where he was the robot that was the spacecraft mission’s director. While the attraction isn’t around anymore, we love the reference in the PeopleMover every time we ride it.
