The Hidden Fee People HATE Paying on a Disney Cruise

One of the best parts of sailing aboard Disney Cruise Line is that almost everything is included!

You can take advantage of all the unlimited food, including sodas and ice cream! You can enjoy Broadway-style entertainment and first-run Disney films (sometimes before they are even in theaters!), meet Disney characters, and so much more! Although there are fees for alcohol, spa services, and a few other add-ons, there is one fee that people hate paying aboard Disney Cruise Line.

Part of the fun of a Disney Cruise, or any cruise, is getting to disconnect from the world. WiFi is not included on Disney Cruise Line, unlike some other cruise lines. This is a premium offering as you spend the majority of your cruise sailing in the middle of the ocean, and there is no cell service.

Disney Wish

If you want to connect to the internet, you will need to purchase an internet package. Now, we will say that Disney Cruise Line has dramatically improved their internet package offerings. In the past, the packages were based on allotted usage, but now, there are WiFi packages that offer more of an “unlimited use.”

The Disney Wish

You can use the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app as well as iMessage and WhatsApp to communicate throughout the ship without having to purchase an internet package. If you are looking to surf the web, you will have to buy one of three packages.

Pool deck

The cheapest option is the “Stay Connected” package, which allows you to access certain social media sites like Facebook and Instagram. Pricing starts at $16 a day when you purchase it for the entire voyage or $18 a day when you purchase it for only 24 hours.

Enchante aboard the Disney Wish

“Basic Surf” includes everything in the “Stay Connected” package plus access to the web, email, and voice calling. Pricing starts at $24 a day for the entire voyage and $28 a day when only purchased for 24 hours.

Captain Mickey

Finally, the top tier internet package is the “Premium Surf,” which includes everything in the “Basic Surf” and “Stay Connected” packages. With “Premium Surf,” you can watch YouTube videos, use Snapchat and TikTok, make video calls, and stream music. Video streaming, such as Netflix and Disney+, is not available. This package starts at $34 a day for the entire voyage or $42 a day for only 24 hours.

Disney Treasure Stateroom

The pricing above only reflects one device; if you want to have multiple devices connected to WiFi at the same time, there is an additional fee for every device you add. If you choose to only pay for one device, you are able to disconnect and reconnect using another device; they just cannot be connected at the same time.

Disney Magic Cruise Ship

The cost of WiFi can be a “hidden” fee once you board and can really add up on longer voyages. One of our team members spent 20 days aboard the Disney Dream last summer, and the WiFi bill for two devices was outrageous. It is important to note that prices are subject to change at any time. If you would like to purchase WiFi for your voyage, you can do so through the Personal Navigator app. If you wish to add more devices, you can also do so throughout your cruise.

While it is nice to stay in touch with loved ones while you are on vacation, it might be better to disconnect and stick to messaging them through iMessage or WhatsApp to save you some cash.
