5 Things at Disney’s All-Star Movies Hotel That Haven’t Aged Well for Unexpected Reasons
Okay, hear us out: Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort is SO underrated. It’s one of the cheapest hotels on Disney World property, and the theming is generally ON POINT.
Sure, it’s not like you’re staying at the Grand Floridian, but it’s comfortable enough if if you plan to mostly just sleep in your room and spend most of your time in the parks. Plus you get transportation (although it is JUST buses) to the Disney Parks, Early Theme Park Entry, and you get to stay within the “Disney bubble.” However, as a value resort, we still think there are some things at All-Star Movies that just haven’t aged well.
Need help figuring out all the ins and outs of planning a Disney World vacation. Let our travel partner, Small World Vacations do all the hard work for you. They’ll find you the best deals, help you book the entire thing, and keep you updated throughout the whole process. Even better? It’s perfectly free!
So, as we said, some things at All-Star Movies just don’t hold up anymore. So let’s get to the nitty gritty.
Herbie
There’s an entire section of All-Star Movies dedicated to Herbie, aka The Love Bug. Now, here’s the thing. There hasn’t been a Herbie movie made since 2005, although it WAS iconic because it starred Lindsey Lohan. But if you asked kids these days who Herbie is, they probably would have ZERO clue.
Unless Disney plans on making a new Herbie movie (which is highly doubtful), this section could do with a makeover. We’re thinking Wreck-It Ralph (because you could totally just put Vanellope’s car in there, right?).
Why You Should Be Careful Staying at These Disney World Hotels in 2025
Fantasia 2000
Okay, the original Fantasia that premiered in 1941 is ICONIC, if only for the Sorcerer Mickey segment of the movie. So we can imagine EVERYONE loves the nods to that part of the movie in the Fantasia section at All-Star Movies. However, it’s obvious Disney expected Fantasia 2000 to be just as iconic because they’ve also included features from that film, including this guy…
THIS GUY IS TERRIFYING. The thing is that many people have no idea he’s from Fantasia 2000 because they haven’t seen that film. Disney should change out the Fantasia 2000 theming and just add in more details from the original movie (give us the dancing hippo!). If Disney wants to keep with the scary theme the Jack-In-The-Box provides, Cherabog is always a good option.

Mighty Ducks
The Mighty Ducks were super popular back in the 90s, but today? Not so much. Is this another movie kids haven’t even seen? We also feel like Disney missed the mark with theming an entire section around that movie, too, because this would have gone over much better at Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort.
So what should replace it? Well, Disney has a virtual archive of movies to choose from. Give us some Hercules theming (okay, that might be wishful thinking) or maybe even add a section devoted to A Goofy Movie. Aladdin could also make for a fun addition — we have IDEAS.
7 SECRET (and FREE!) Disney World Hotel Upgrades
The buses are SO far away
If you’ve ever stayed at an All-Star Resort, you’ve made that impossibly long trek at the end of the night from the park entrance to where the All-Star buses drop off and pick up visitors. Those bus stops are the FURTHEST away from the parks! We get it…you have to pay for the convenience of a deluxe hotel to get a bus stop closer to the park entrance, but still, we’re getting older, that walk at the end of the night is NOT FUN.
We honestly don’t expect Disney to fix this because it’s been like this FOREVER, but it’s still something we HATE about staying at the value resorts.
The PROS And CONS Of Staying At Disney World’s Value Resorts
The food court is basic
So Disney has done this thing where it’s homogenized all the value resort food courts, and now their menus are all the same. It’s SO boring and it’s ridiculous that these food courts don’t have much food themed to that resort, although the Food Court has a cool name: World Premiere Food Court. Really, Disney doesn’t even have to change the menu: just give the food movie names and SOME kind of theming.
We get it — Disney doesn’t prioritize the menus at the value resorts, but we think it should. And no, we’re not just looking for a cupcake with popcorn plopped on top to represent movies. We need MORE, Disney.
The Essential Rule You Need To Know Before You Stay at Disney World’s Value Hotels
We’ll admit that All-Star Movies is still our favorite All-Star Resort and if Disney would address some of these issues, it could become our favorite value resort. The value resorts are overdue for a little TLC (although the rooms were updated fairly recently) and we’d love to see Disney put more thought into them.
