We absolutely love the holiday season at the Disneyland Resort and look forward to the festivities every year!

From the Festival of Holidays at Disney California Adventure to all the holiday decorations, ride overlays, and seasonal shows at Disneyland, Disneyland Resort is the place to be during the holiday season. The festivities at the Disneyland Resort got even more special this year with the return of Disneyland’s Candlelight Processional!

We were lucky to be in attendance for the first performance of this year’s Candlelight Processional and we are so excited to tell you all about it!

Lots of people were already there when we showed up HOURS early!

This special event features a 600-member choir accompanying a celebrity narrator in the retelling of the story of Christmas in front of the Disneyland Railroad Main Street, U.S.A. station at the front of the park. Disney doesn’t really promote the event because its existing popularity ALREADY causes traffic problems within the park and the only reserved seating is limited to special guests, including VIP members of the community, media members, civic leaders, and other select VIPs.

Be prepared to wait.

With that said, you can still catch the show in the limited standing-room-only spot behind the seating area without the need for a special ticket. However, our show was PACKED and you should be ready to reserve your spot HOURS before the event. Be advised that you should be prepared to wait and stick it out in your spot.

And, Brie Larson is the surprise celebrity narrator for this evening! She read the Christmas story between the choir’s songs, joining the likes of Viola Davis, Henry Fonda, Ginnifer Goodwin, Cary Grant, Chris Hemsworth, Charlton Heston, James Earl Jones, Gregory Peck, Jane Seymour, Jimmy Stewart, Dick Van Dyke, and John Wayne.

This year’s Candlelight Processional will take place on December 2nd and 3rd with performances at 5:30PM and 7:45PM each night.  The tradition essentially began when Disneyland opened in 1955 and has evolved into a much bigger spectacle over the decades. Now, it’s such a Disney staple that it even has a very popular version in Disney World’s EPCOT! At Disneyland, the limited performances in conjunction with the event’s popularity have made this a very tough ticket and will continue to be something to circle on your Disney calendar every year.
