REVIEW: We Ate a Bucket of BONES at Magic Kingdom

If you’re visiting Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party in Magic Kingdom, you’ll find lots of snacks and sweet treats around the park that only come out for the after-hours event. But you don’t have to live off of sugar! You can find full, spooky-themed MEALS as well!

Main Street, U.S.A. decorated for Halloween!

Come with us to try out some hearty eats at Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe (but don’t worry — we still won’t skip dessert!). There’s even a bucket of BONES here…which sounds…interesting. 😬

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is a seasonal Magic Kingdom event requiring a separate ticket for entry. In 2023, the event will take place on select nights from August 11th through November 1st. Although there are some Halloween treats available all day long in Magic Kingdom, others only come out for the party.

Right now, we’re heading to Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe to try out the Cajun Burger, Bucket of Bones, and Candy Corn Milkshake!

Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe

The Cajun Burger is a cajun-spiced beef patty topped with fried green tomato, Cajun Andouille dip, and Creole remoulade served on a black bun. It costs $14.99.

Cajun Burger

We loved that this burger has a bit of spice that really enhances its savoryness. The burger itself is very rich and the patty isn’t overcooked. We love the way the tomato brightens it all up too!

Inside the burger

We thought the black bun tasted a little strange, but not like it’s dyed. Overall, if you’re a Cajun fan or are looking for a burger with a little more flavor, give this one a try!

It’s got some spice!

Ready to tackle the Bucket of Bones?? Don’t worry, the description makes it sound way more appetizing than the name: This is a serving of bone-in piggy wings fried with fresh jalapeños tossed in Coca-Cola Cherry barbecue sauce! It costs $12.99.

Bowl of Bones

The meat on these is a little smokey, and the first hit you get is sweet, followed by the spice of the jalapeños. We think these are a great size for a snack, but not necessarily a meal. And if you’re opposed to spice, definitely stay away from these! Otherwise, give them a try.

The Candy Corn Milkshake is a sweet corn soft-serve ice cream topped with whipped cream and sweet potato corn bread nuggets. It costs $8.49.

Candy Corn Milkshake

This milkshake tastes strongly of vanilla, with only a little bit of a candy corn taste to it, which we appreciated. The cornbread on top also tastes more like cake — not that we’re complaining!

It really is like cake!

If you’re a fan of sugary treats or candy corn, we definitely say give this a try. Heads up though that it will melt EVERYWHERE very quickly, so grab some napkins.

There’s more where that treat came from, though! Make sure to check out ALL of the treats available at the party before you go.

Don’t want to pay extra for treats at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party? Don’t worry — you can skip the restaurants and just trick-or-treat around the park instead. The candy is your typical Halloween goodies, but hey — it’s all sugar, right?
