The 3 Times You’ll STILL Need a Park Pass Reservation in Disney World in 2024
Park Pass Reservations have been a controversial topic for quite some time.
The system was introduced as a way to manage capacity in the parks following the pandemic closures of 2020, and while it has gone through a few changes since then, it’s still around today. Unfortunately, it hasn’t been everyone’s cup of tea — it even inspired a lawsuit among unhappy Annual Passholders. Starting in 2024, however, things are changing! Rules on Park Passes will lighten up, making it easier for most guests to visit the parks. However, there are still a few times you will need to snag a reservation, so we’re giving you all the details.
Disney has shared a few scenarios after January 9th, 2023, in which guests will no longer need reservations. Date-based 1-day tickets, date-based multi-day tickets, and vacation packages with date-based tickets will no longer require a reservation. So when will you need a reservation?
Annual Pass
Disney has been lightening the restrictions on reservations for Annual Passholders, but there are still situations that will require them to make one. Starting in 2024, Disney will introduce “Good to Go” days for Annual Passholders and Cast Members.
On those select days, visitors will be able to enter the parks without a reservation. This is a change that has been gradually evolving. Earlier this year, Disney relaxed the rules on Park Pass Reservations, allowing Annual Passholders to enter the parks without a reservation after 2 PM, except on Saturday and Sunday in Magic Kingdom.
So, Annual Passholders will still need to make these reservations on any day that isn’t designated as a “Good to Go” day, which will be added on a rolling basis in the Passholder calendar. Alternatively, if you hope to visit any park before 2 PM, you will need a reservation.
Student Group Tickets
If you are planning on going to Disney World as a student in a group, you’ll still need to plan to make those reservations!
After you buy your tickets, you’ll have to head to the Disney World website to make those reservations.
Sport and Convention Tickets
Lastly, if have Sport or Convention-based tickets, you’ll also need to snag a Park Pass Reservation.
Disney World is going to look a bit different in 2024, but Park Pass reservations are still sticking around for some of us — at least for a little while longer. We’ll keep an eye out for any changes, so stay tuned to DFB for more!
