What Are Disney World Crowds Like in March
How do you choose when to visit Disney World?
Whether you’re picking based on vacation days or weather, there are things happening in the parks year-round that can make a visit worthwhile. But the thing that might make the biggest difference for your vacation? The crowds!
If you’re interested in planning a trip to Disney World in March, we’ve got the crowd report you NEED to know! The month that kicks off Spring brings a lot of excitement, and there are a few things you should be aware of if you’re getting ready for a visit.
The first thing you need to remember when it comes to planning trips in March is that it’s prime Spring Break season. For Americans, that’s the time when students are given a week’s break from school, which means there are literally MILLIONS of people traveling during that window.
Spring Break can vary by school, county, or state, but most fall from early March-early April. And if Easter happens to fall in March, the weeks before and after the holiday will be even more crowded than usual. The Spring Break crowds may not be on par with Christmas or New Year’s Eve, but they’re pretty close. Expect wait times of more than an hour for many attractions, and multi-hour waits for the most popular rides.
If you’re traveling for Spring Break, make sure to get your dining reservations promptly at the 60-day mark when they drop at 6AM ET. Otherwise, you’ll find that the restaurants you want may get snatched up quickly.
And if you’re interested in using Genie+ during your visit to avoid long wait times, you’ll want to make sure you book your first selection at 7AM on the day of your visit. The earlier you start, the better chances you have of getting the “good” rides.
Besides Spring Break and Easter, the other big thing you should know about March is that it’s usually when the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival starts. It’s one of EPCOT’s biggest festivals, and it can cause crowd levels to be much higher on the weekends and in the evenings (people like to hop to the park to eat dinner). Expect heavier crowds during the opening weekend of the festival as well.
Basically, crowds may start low at the beginning of March, but will almost certainly pick up throughout the month as Spring Break travelers and EPCOT Festival fans come to visit. It’s rare that you’ll find a low-crowd day during this time, so make sure to plan ahead and be prepared for anything!
