UPDATE on Brightline Train Service in Florida

The expansion of high-speed rail in Florida is continuing!

Sure, we’re still disappointed that the train won’t connect Orlando International Airport to Disney Springs, as originally planned, but high-speed trains will soon be able to take you to other parts of Florida, including to and from the Orlando International Airport, quickly and efficiently. Now we’ve got the latest update on some stations the Brightline trains will service!

New train stations will open SOON in Florida. According to The Orlando Sentinel, stations in Boca Raton and Aventura will open…NEXT WEEK (when we said soon, we meant it!). The first day of service for both stations is December 21st. Tickets are on sale NOW through the official Brightline website and app. How exciting!

That means that South Florida will now have FIVE Brightline stations, where it previously only had three. This will be a big boon to commuters. Eventually, the train will run from Miami and Orlando, connecting those two cities sometime in 2023.

The trains have already started testing at 75 mph, with speeds increasing to 110 mph — that’s fast!

Although the plan to have a train run directly to Disney Springs didn’t quite work out, there are still plans to put a station somewhere near Disney Springs in an area that isn’t on Disney property. So there may soon be a way to take a train to somewhere NEAR Disney World.

If it’s close enough (and cheap enough), it might make it a decent alternative for taking a rideshare or shuttle service directly from the airport. You could ultimately take the train from the airport to the station near Disney World and then grab a rideshare from there to your resort.

Of course, we don’t have any details about where that station might end up, as plans for it aren’t underway, but if we hear anything, we’ll be sure to let you know. In the meantime, if you need to get from Orlando International Airport to Disney World, you can either take a rideshare or one of two shuttle services: MEARS Connect and The Sunshine Flyer.
