BREAKING! The TRAIN IS COMING BACK TO MAGIC KINGDOM!
The Walt Disney World Railroad closed in Magic Kingdom in 2018 (can you believe it’s been that long?!) due to the construction of TRON Lightcycle Run, and we’ve really missed it over the past few years!
Walt Disney World Railroad has been closed for a LONG time!
Although we’ve seen railroad testing and updates on the changes that have been made to the beloved train, Disney had not revealed a reopening timeline for this classic attraction…until NOW.
The Walt Disney World Railroad is an iconic Disney World attraction. Whether you want to take a leisurely ride around Magic Kingdom or conveniently get to your destination deeper within the park, the train was there for you. And it’ll be there for you once again VERY soon.
Magic Kingdom
After being closed for YEARS, Disney finally announced that the Walt Disney World Railroad will reopen this holiday season! It will be available for everyone to ride SOON with an all new voiceover! Disney shared “The familiar whistle of its steam engine will be complemented by exciting new sounds and voices,” and, “A new conductor has assumed the role, carrying on the long tradition of warm welcomes and amusing anecdotes while adding fresh commentary and story to the journey.”
Railroad testing
At Destination D23 in 2021, we learned that the Number 1 Engine had been completely refurbished, and soon everyone will be able to hop aboard the train and see the refurbished engine with their own eyes.

Disney shared some updated photos of the train, and we can’t wait to see it in person!
