The BEST and WORST Things We Ate in Disney World in October
Somehow October is already coming to an end!
Now it’s time to look back on one of our favorite months and all the new and returning foods we were able to try — including the eats that weren’t exactly winners. Find out the seven BEST and the six WORST foods we ate in Disney World this October!
The 7 Best
Berbere Chickpea Flatbread — Pinocchio Village Haus
We’re starting out in Magic Kingdom with the Berbere Chickpea Flatbread from Pinocchio Village Haus, which comes topped with spiced hummus, tomato, and red onion drizzled with coriander-chutney dressing for $12.29.
We loved the combo of the hummus with the fresh red onion, and the coriander-chutney dressing was perfectly herby and fresh. This flatbread could be a meal for one or a snack that can be easily split!

Cuatro Leches — Frontera Cocina
Let’s visit Disney Springs next to revisit the Cuatro Leches from Frontera Cocina, made of cake infused with 4 types of milk (coconut milk, condensed milk, evaporated milk, and whole milk) and topped with whipped cream, toasted coconuts, berries, and lime zest for $10.
This dessert is LEGIT. It was moist and flavorful and the tastes of blackberries, lime, and coconut paired beautifully together. It was also sweet but not TOO sweet, so this might be a good dessert option for you!

Pumpkin Spice Forever — The Edison
Also in Disney Springs, the Pumpkin Spice Forever from The Edison has a HIGH price tag ($30!!) but we were convinced of its worth by the time we took our first sip. This is a “High Roller Cocktail,” made with top-shelf ingredients, including Stoli Elit vodka, Borgatti espresso liqueur, Ferretti biscotti liqueur, pumpkin spiced puree, black walnut bitters, and fee foam.
Welcome to autumn in cocktail form, y’all. The fall vibes were HERE, and we loved how the spices and pumpkin flavor worked together. If you love pumpkin spice, you might want to start saving that $30.

Haunted Forest Apple Mousse — Roaring Fork
This festive Haunted Forest Apple Mousse from Roaring Fork at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge topped the list as one of the best and most photogenic treats of October! It was a green cake with cookies n’ cream mousse and not-so-poisoned sour apple mousse with dark chocolate tree branches for $6.29.
And while it was messy, it was absolutely DELICIOUS. We’re talking rich, smooth, and creamy cookies n’ cream mousse, and the apple mousse tasted like apple pie! It was only available through October 31st but we hope it comes back next year.

Sassy Sassagoula Sliders — Scat Cat’s Club
Now let’s visit Disney’s Port Orleans — French Quarter Resort to talk about the Sassy Sassagoula Sliders from Scat Cat’s Club. These sliders come with three plant-based sliders that feature three different flavor profiles, including spicy, sweet, and savory. You get all three for $12.
The spicy slider is made with fried green tomatoes with giardiniera and pepper jelly, and it was really spicy — in a good way! The savory slider was made with a “fish” cake with spicy rémoulade and arugula, and it had an amazing garlicky salty flavor that was our favorite of the three sliders. And the sweet slider was a barbecue jackfruit sandwich with fried pickles and slaw with a sweet barbecue sauce, and we really liked the texture of the fried pickles!

Cold Brew Martini — Belle Vue Lounge
The Belle Vue Lounge in Disney’s Riviera Resort had a bit of a makeover and some menu changes, and we stopped by to try the Cold Brew Martini for $15.50. It’s made with SelvaRey Chocolate Run, Tia Maria Liqueur, and Joffrey’s Cold Brew.
Although it was a teensy bit too sweet for a martini, we absolutely loved the chocolate and coffee flavors, and it was extra rich and velvety. It might be a good option for anyone looking for a sweet drink after your meal!

Smoked Trout and Crab Dip — The Enchanted Rose
And finally, the Smoked Trout and Crab Dip from The Enchanted Rose at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort was a HUGE winner! This dish was new to the menu, made with salmon roe, chive oil, and sesame seed lavosh for $16.
If you’re a seafood lover, this is definitely something for you to try! We found the dip smooth and flavorful, with a nice smoky flavor, and the sesame seed lavosh was the perfect vessel for the dip.

The 6 Worst
Twinkle Twinkle Little Bat — Cheshire Cafe
We’ve now arrived at the worst things we tried in October, although keep in mind that most of these items weren’t necessarily bad, and just because we didn’t like them doesn’t mean others can’t enjoy them!
We’re starting in Magic Kingdom with the Twinkle Twinkle Little Bat from Cheshire Cafe, a frozen grape drink topped with whipped cream and a chocolate umbrella for $5.99.
We didn’t get a strong grape flavor from this drink and it was very, VERY sweet. If anything, the grape flavor reminded us of medicine, and it was just way too sweet. Kiddos might enjoy this but steer clear if you’re not a fan of sweets.

Pluto Dome Cake — Gaston’s Tavern
We were so excited to see a Pluto-themed treat in Magic Kingdom but it didn’t turn out exactly like we thought it would. The Pluto Dome Cake from Gaston’s Tavern was made with gluten-friendly peanut butter mousse with a chocolate ganache center on top of a chocolate flourless cake for $8.29.
Chocolate lovers might really love this, but what disappointed us was that we didn’t taste ANY peanut butter. It was also incredibly sweet, and the gelatin dome had a gummy texture. Still, fans of chocolate and sweets (and Pluto) might enjoy this!

Hummus — The Enchanted Rose
Hummus from The Enchanted Rose Lounge in Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort was a newer menu item that we REALLY wanted to like…but it wasn’t it. This hummus came with tapenade, smoked paprika, and grilled pita bread for $12.
Honestly, this hummus was, well, boring! There weren’t a lot of flavors and if you’re not a fan of olives, you probably won’t enjoy this. Still, we liked the pita!

Asian Style Noodle Salad — Roaring Fork
We stopped by Disney’s Wilderness Lodge to try the new Asian Style Noodle Salad from the Roaring Fork, made with tofu, crispy rice noodles, and fried wonton strips for $12.99.
Sadly, we found the tofu slimy on the inside, and we would have liked more lettuce to balance everything out. It was also difficult to eat with the big noodles and the small lettuce. It might have just been our experience that day, but you might want to keep these notes in mind.

Bear Mousse Cake — Roaring Fork
Also at the Roaring Fork, the Bear Mousse Cake was absolutely adorable, but it didn’t quite deliver. It’s made of raspberry mousse, almond cake, and dark chocolate ganache for $7.99.
The raspberry mousse was very tart and although it worked well with the sweetness of the almond cake, the chocolate flavor just didn’t work. You really need to like tart fruit mixed with chocolate to enjoy this treat.

Chocolate Chip Pancakes — Cape May Cafe
We visited Cape May Cafe at Disney’s Beach Club for the reopened character breakfast and among all the tasty buffet items, we were a bit disappointed by the Chocolate Chip Pancakes.
Sadly, these pancakes were HEAVY on the flour and really thick, although we did get a good amount of chocolate chips. Still, you might want to skip these at the buffet in favor of the more classic Mickey waffles.

Bonus Mention!
Don Bugito’s Creepy Crawly Critters — Salt & Straw
And we have a b0nus mention! Salt & Straw is known for their unique flavors and they released some TRULY interesting ones for the spooky season, although they were technically released at the end of September. Don Bugito’s Creepy Crawly Critters was made with matcha ice cream with coconut candied meal worms and chocolate-covered crickets. Yes, REAL BUGS.
We actually really enjoyed this ice cream! The matcha ice cream tasted like a creamy vanilla matcha latte and the bugs reminded us of a KitKat, but be warned — don’t look at them for too long or you might rethink your life.
