Gideon’s Is BACK and We’re Stuffing Our Faces With ANOTHER Massive Cake in Disney World!

When Gideon’s Bakehouse first welcomed guests as part of its soft opening at the end of 2020, we stepped into cookie heaven and brought you all our hot takes on their GIANT treats.

Gideon’s temporarily closed shortly thereafter, however. But, the cookie conservatory opened once again today! So, we stopped by to take a look around and (of course) grab some treats.

Gideon’s Bakehouse will be having their official grand opening in Disney Springs this Saturday with limited edition cookies, FREE merch, and more! But, this sweet treats location opened today for its adoring fans to enjoy in the meantime. We stopped by and saw the sign to join the virtual queue.

Be aware that the virtual queue wait time for Gideon’s can be QUITE long, or at least it was in the past. Lots of adoring cookie fans were waiting for their chance to get a taste of these giant treats today.

Inside, the store was looking as spooktacular as ever with those leaning bookshelves…

…and curious characters staring at us.

The cookie master himself, Steve Lewis, was there. We know that the opening of Gideon’s Bakehouse at Disney Springs is really big for Steve. He shared some of the harder parts of getting this store open in an exclusive interview we had with him previously. Steve shared, “There is so much history and emotion in those cookies. Putting myself out there opens the door for criticism and, in all honesty, I take it very personally…We live in a love/hate world right now, but my team and I are doing our best to create something special…”

Wondering what Gideon’s will have available this month? Here’s a peek at their January menuAvailable cookies include original chocolate chip, peanut butter crunch, and cookies and cream. The Coffee Cake Cookie is the morning exclusive, and the coffee toffee and chocolate chip are special edition cookies. There are also some nitro cold brews, including their peanut butter iced coffee, and more. The cake slice flavors change daily, so you’ll want to ask what the flavor is when you visit.

Today, we spotted a Peanut Butter Chocolate Cake in the store. We tried their Banana Peanut Butter Chocolate Cake earlier this month, and you can see our full review of that here! We also got to try their Red Velvet Cake back in December.

The double frosted cake flavor for today, however, was Cinnamon Salted Caramel. Seriously, like does that cake even look real? Of course, we HAD to grab a slice to try!

Cinnamon Salted Caramel Double Frosted Cake

One slice of this cake can be yours for $9. The Cinnamon Salted Caramel Double Frosted Cake is made of chocolate cake, vanilla buttercream, cinnamon caramel frosting, and a layer of mini chocolate chips, which is then repeated to create those beautiful layers. The top layer of the cake has the cinnamon caramel frosting and a drizzle of caramel.

So, what did we think of this sweet treat? The cake was REALLY good and incredibly rich. The cinnamon flavor was stronger than the caramel. But, both flavors were delicious in their own way and the combination of the two was great.

The chocolate cake itself was moist and rich. The addition of the mini chocolate chips gave the treat a nice bit of a texture change with a fun crunch. We also thought the icings used on this cake were amazing. We didn’t really taste a lot of that salt in the salted caramel though.

Overall, we think this cake slice is a sweet treat lots of people would enjoy, particularly if you like that combination of caramel, cinnamon, and chocolate. If you don’t like cinnamon though, or if you’re looking for a really strong salt flavor in your salted caramel, you may want to opt for something else.

While we were at Gideon’s, we also got one of their Coffee Cake Cookies. You can read our full review of this cookie and a bunch of other treats from Gideon’s (including their Peanut Butter Cold Brew) here!

So, if you’re hoping to try some cookies, cakes, or drinks from Gideon’s, they’re now open at Disney Springs, with their grand opening coming soon.
