Baby Yoda’s Coming Back! Here’s a FIRST LOOK with PICS at Season 2 of Disney’s ‘The Mandalorian’
Name a more iconic duo than Mando and Baby Yoda. We’ll wait.
That’s right, folks! We’re talking The Mandalorian today as the award-winning and acclaimed TV show is set to return to Disney+ on October 30th and we can’t WAIT. Now, thanks to Entertainment Weekly, we have a first look at the new season! Oooh!
As you might know, Season 2 is set to feature some familiar faces like Din Djarin (the Mandalorian himself), Cara Dune, and Greef Karga. Oh…and The Child, of course! But the show is also reportedly getting a few big additions such as Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano and Temuera Morrison who played Jango Fett in the Star Wars prequels. These haven’t been confirmed officially, but we sure hope that we get to see these new faces!
Showrunner Jon Favreau noted that Season 2 is going to be a lot bigger and potentially better. He notes that, “The world was really captivated by Game of Thrones and how that evolved as the characters followed different storylines.” So, Season 2 might see us following a few different plotlines with various characters. Um…that would be SO neat.
And yes, as we’ve mentioned, Baby Yoda (AKA The Child) will be returning in all his glory. Mando actor Pedro Pascal notes that the Season will partially focus on the challenges that Mando and The Child face as a family unit.
Interestingly enough, The Child was just as much a star on set as he is on the internet. Dave Filoni, another showrunner, notes that “Everybody liked him before, but he wasn’t quite the celebrity that he was in season 2. This time, he was quite a big deal.” Yep, people go crazy for that little puppet. “Even as a puppet, you can’t walk by the Child without having an interaction,” Filoni said, “Because it’s so very sweet and innocent.”
You might remember that Season 1 ended with Moff Gideon pursuing Mando and The Child in possession of the black-bladed Darksaber. Giancarlo Esposito, who plays Moff Gideon, explained that Season 2 is going to see some seriously iconic stand-offs between his character, Mando, and The Child. He says he’ll be seen owning his cape, really owning his lightsaber, and commanding “a larger vehicle, hint-hint.” What could that mean?!
All in all, we’re pretty darn excited for Season 2 of The Mandalorian. The antics and adventures of our favorite heroes and villains are sure to be captivating — even if they’re not quite as captivating as Baby Yoda doing literally anything. Stay tuned for updates!
