NEWS: Lakers and Clippers Vote To Boycott NBA Season in Disney World
Several NBA teams have voted to boycott the remainder of the season in Disney World.
The NBA was one of the major leaders when it came to the return of sports in the US. Now, after a successful season restart, some teams have expressed an interest in boycotting the rest of the season in response to the police shooting of Jacob Blake in Wisconsin. As of this morning, three games have been postponed and the Los Angeles Lakers and the Los Angeles Clippers have cast votes in favor of boycotting the remainder of the season.
The discussions of a boycott first began when the Milwaukee Bucks staged a walk-out of Game 5 against the Orlando Magic yesterday. Afterward, the Bucks made a statement that their protest was in response to the police shooting of Jacob Blake and several other teams opted not to play as well — the Rockets, the Thunder, the Lakers, and the Trail Blazers.

A league source in the bubble tells ESPN there was “no sense of accomplishment” now that tonight’s meeting has been adjourned. Added that the feeling of “uncertainty” will remain until tomorrow’s emergency 11 a.m. ET Board of Governors meeting occurs.

The NBA Coaches support our players 100%. The restart happened largely because of the platform it provided. The baseless shootings of Jacob Blake and other black men and women by law enforcement underscores the need for action. Not after the playoffs, not in the future, but now.
