News! Disneyland Will Be Donating Its Excess Food During Coronavirus Closure
We’ve been giving you ALL the updates from the Disney Parks and Disney Cruise Line about closures and cancellations from the Coronavirus.
And, while Disneyland and Disney California Adventure will be shutting their doors through the end of the month, the parks are taking both health precautions and giving away donations!
Due to the closing of the park, the Disneyland Resort will donate its excess food to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County to support those in need.
According to Disneyland officials, “While closely following food safety guidelines, excess inventory of dairy, fruit, vegetables, packaged goods, and banquet meals are being donated Second Harvest Food Bank, whose mission is to end hunger in Orange County.”
Disneyland has directly been involved with a food donation program that has supported the local community by donating prepared and unserved food since 2014. They also participate in a food scraps division program that decreases the amount of food waste as an environmental conservation effort.
The Disney VoluntEARS continually pursue the mission to end hunger and even helped Disneyland Resort to donate over 20,000 meals to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County last year.
