What’s New Around the Monorail Loop: Disney World’s Polynesian Village, Grand Floridian, and Contemporary Resorts!

“Welcome aboard the Walt Disney World Monorail — your highway in the sky!”

Monorail in the Contemporary

It’s time for a trip around the Monorail Resorts today as we visit Disney’s Contemporary, Polynesian Village, and Grand Floridian Resorts! So, “Please stand clear of the doors…”

Hop on board!

… and join us as we check out What’s New at the Monorail Resorts!

Disney’s Contemporary Resort

We’re starting at the Contemporary Resort!

You may not know that Disney’s Contemporary Resort has its own dedicated Joffrey’s Coffee & Tea location: Contemporary Grounds.

More recent additions to the bakery case here include a giant (seriously, Joffrey’s donuts are huge) Coconut Donut and a Cronut!

And while this is not new, it never hurts to offer a reminder that you can get MICKEY on your coffee at this location, as it’s one of the few which feature latte character art!

Dining at the California Grill soon?

Then you may want to know that Alaskan Halibut has replaced the Black Grouper entrée, and Surf and Turf replaced the Butter-poached Lobster Tail & Jumbo Sea Scallop entrée.

Newer additions also include the Ramp Tagliatelle and 21-Day Dry Aged Prime Kansas City Strip Steak. (Note that the Tonkatsu Ramen & Grilled Colorado Bison Loin have been removed.)

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

Aloha from Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort!

Don’t be alarmed if you visit Tambu Lounge in Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort only to find that the famous Lapu Lapu is no longer featured on the inside cover of the menu.

The beloved offering has simply been moved to the second page.

At Kona Café, a small adjustment has been made to the Appetizers at this Table Service restaurant.

The Pickled Salad has been removed.

And at the neighboring Kona Island, we noticed that the Rainbow Roll was unavailable in the grab ‘n go options. BUT, they may have simply been out of supply for a time.

Either way, it’s good to know that items may vary here.

Downstairs (and outside!) at the Pineapple Lanai, there is a new design for the menu, which lists the Te Fiti Lime Dole Whip cone as a regular addition now (as opposed to its temporary-sign status before)!

Also, here’s a fun blast from the past… the Tiki Bowl and Sipper have returned! These were available when Pineapple Lanai opened way back in 2014!

(Yep, this dedicated Dole Whip spot will be 5 years old on August 30th!)

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

And our last stop is Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa!

Next Stop: Disney’s Grand Floridian!

Our visit revealed a few menu changes.

Citricos

The updated seasonal menu at Citricos shows that Charred Octopus replaced the Tuna Tare Tare; Spring Pea Soup replaced the Mushroom Soup; Roasted Beet Salad replaced the Heirloom Vegetable Salad; and a Scallop Risotto has replaced the Lobster Risotto.

At the Grand Floridian Café, a Reuben has taken the place of the Fried Chicken entrée on the Brunch menu.

But that’s not the end of the Café’s scrumptious Fried Chicken!

Grand Floridian Cafe Chicken and Waffles

As we shared previously, the Buttermilk-Fried Chicken and Waffles hack has been honored as an official item on the Brunch  menu!

Finally, at the counter service Gasparilla Island Grill, the Kids’ Roast Beef Sandwich has changed from an Open Faced Sandwich (previously served on a potato chive roll) to a Roast Beef and Cheddar on a Pretzel Roll.
