What’s New in Hollywood Studios!: Pastries, Popcorn Buckets, and MORE Construction

We’re checking in from Hollywood Studios with some new popcorn buckets, a few menu changes, new snacks and — for a shocking change of pace 🙄more construction!

New Construction Walls in Hollywood Studios

Let’s jump right in to find out what’s new in Hollywood Studios this week!

Disney Skyliner Station Construction Progress at Hollywood Studios

Last week Disney started testing the Skyliner Gondola system with a few of the gondolas taking to the sky! Construction is still underway on the Skyliner station at Hollywood Studios and we expect to see a lot more progress in the weeks to come.

If you look closely you can even spot on of the Gondolas parked at the station — it’s still wrapped up so no telling which characters will be featured on the side.

Are you excited for Disney’s new gondola system to open in the fall? We certainly can’t wait!

Howdy from Woody on the new Popcorn Buckets

The popcorn buckets feature all of our favorite characters from Pixar films, like Toy Story, WALL-E, The Incredibles and Ratatouille — all hanging out in Disney World! Click HERE to see the whole souvenir bucket and all the cute character settings! We know you’ll be picking one up on your next visit to Hollywood Studios

Be careful Jack-Jack!

New Treats in the Bakery Case at Trolley Car Cafe

If you’re bored of the typical cookies and brownies, Trolley Car Cafe now serves Raspberry Napoleon, an Apple Almond Tart, Latte Cake, and a Chocolate Pecan Tart that rival Les Halles Boulangerie-Patisserie.

Brown Derby Lounge has removed the Tamarind Glazed Pork Belly and Braised Beef Arepas from their small plates menu.

Tamarind-Glazed Pork Belly

The pork belly was one of our favorite things on the menu, so we’re pretty bummed to see it gone. Luckily, they’ve kept a few of our other favorites like the Andouille-crusted Shrimp.

What’s New on Hollywood Studios Sunset Boulevard

The Planet Hollywood Store on Sunset Boulevard has officially closed for business.

Planet Hollywood Store Officially Closed

This classic Hollywood Studios store has sold Planet Hollywood souvenirs for years, but things are changing all over the park in favor of more Star Wars goodies. You can still get Planet Hollywood merchandise at the restaurant located in Disney Springs.

Legends of Hollywood will likely expand into the space vacated by Planet Hollywood. In the meantime, guests are being directed to Celebrity 5 & 10 on Hollywood Boulevard.

Lightening McQueen’s Racing Academy coming soon to Hollywood Studios

Posters have started popping up by Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster and that attraction’s regular Fastpass line has been closed while the entrance to the new attraction is finished.

Anaheim Produce has updated their signage to include “hosted by Cuties” along with the Cuties logo.

Cuties became the official citrus fruit of Walt Disney World in October of last year.  You can grab Cuties mandarin oranges at loads of locations across the parks — a great healthy snack option!

What’s New in Hollywood Studios’ Toy Story Land

We peeked over the wall in Toy Story Land to get a view of the continuing construction on Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

More trees and foliage have been added close to the wall and views are starting to become a little more obstructed. But, no worries — we can still catch glimpses of construction from the other side of the park.

What’s New on Hollywood Studios’ Commissary Lane

New construction walls have popped up starting at the “Star Wars Bathrooms” that wrap ALLL the way back to Commissary Lane in front of Baseline Tap House — even blocking the Speeder Bike PhotoPass area.

The DVC structure that was on Commissary Lane has been completely removed while Disney works on increasing capacity and flow of the sidewalks — plus adding an entrance to the “Star Wars Bathroom”. You can read all about it, here!

That about wraps things up for Hollywood Studios this week! Check back next week to see how the construction has progressed!
