Review: NEW Menu Items at Disney Springs’ Homecomin’!!

Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ in Walt Disney World’s Disney Springs has garnered a massive following among Disney food fans — including us! We love this place, where comfort food and tasty drinks are always at the ready! So when the table service spot announced a new menu back in early-December I had to get in there to try it!

Before I get into the eats, let’s just mull over this Whiskey Menu (and the delightful fact that Homecomin’ has a menu just. for. whiskey).

There’s also a Moonshine Menu, which embraces the restaurant’s signature category of alcohol. 😉

If you’re looking for cocktails, wine, and beer, take a gander at the full Drink Menu. Here you’ll find moonshine and whiskey used in the creative cocktails!

I went with the White Peach Sangria, a combination of Peach Moonshine, La Perlina Moscato, fresh Peach Puree, and muddled Orange and Mango. This was super refreshing and fruity. It’s a perfect summer drink (or drink to make you FEEL like it’s summer in January)!

But what about those new menu items? Well, they’re all over the menu, and they’ve taken the place of other menu items. So while we love a new menu item, we know some of you will be bummed to lose your favorites.

First up in Starters: Hot Legs have replaced the Ham and Cheese Biscuits (don’t worry — the Thigh High Chicken and Biscuits are SAFE!). Hot Legs are fried chicken leg ‘lollipops’ coated in the restaurant’s Fresno pepper hot sauce and served with a side of Icebox Dressing for dipping.

Hot Legs

These were moist and flavorful — and the hot sauce definitely adds a sweet little kick! If you want to try the chicken at Homecomin’ but don’t want a full fried chicken entree, these could give you a little taste!

In Buns & Such, the Barbecue Pork Bun has been removed, and the Cuban Sandwich has been added. The Cuban is still packed with pork — House-Smoked Pork and Shaved Country Ham, to be precise — plus House-Made Pickles, Yellow Mustard, and Swiss Cheese all pressed in Cuban Bread.

The sandwich was delicious: salty, tangy, and filling. The fresh Cuban bread makes all the difference in the execution of the Cuban. And I enjoyed the side of Barbecue Chips drizzled with the Icebox Dressing, too! They were seriously awesome!!

Under Main Plates, the Grilled Pork Chop replaces the meatloaf. This is an impressive plate of food, with the Porterhouse Pork Chop taking center stage. Sides include Creamy Mashed Potatoes and French Green Beans with Caramelized Onions. But the Tomato-Bacon Jam is the element that really makes the dish shine!

This was decent, but the pork chop was WAY too tough for my liking. I know it’s difficult to cook pork to a safe temperature in a restaurant, and this was definitely a casualty of that concern.

Roasted Butternut Squash replaces corn souffle, and this simple side is a vibrant addition to any meal here. It’s nothing particularly special, but it’s seasoned well, and adds a burst of color.

For Thanksgiving, Homecomin’ introduced Pumpkin Bread Pudding — and it’s still hanging around through the Christmas season! The pumpkin-y bread pudding is topped with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream, a swirl of Whipped Cream, and a shard of golden, hardened Sugar. The Caramel Sauce on the side was a sweet and delicious addition. This isn’t bumping the Toffee Bread Pudding from House of Blues from the top bread pudding spot at Disney World, but it’s a good, not-too-sweet option for a SUPER pumpkin fan. (I’m NOT a super pumpkin fan, so I could take it or leave it.)

Homecomin’ has some hits with its new menu items! And while we lost a few items in the process, it’s nice to see the chefs at this popular restaurant are working to keep things fresh. Oh — and if you’re looking for a new salad at Homecomin’, the Farmhouse Salad looks terrific!
