Is a Disney Parks ‘RollerCoaster Tycoon’ Game FINALLY Happening?!
Frontier, a UK-based video game developer, has just announced a new partnership with Disney to create a new game.
While there aren’t many details on what exactly the game will entail, it will be fully funded by Frontier and will “build upon the company’s extensive experience and proven capabilities as a leader in the Creative Management Simulation (CMS) genre.”
Frontier’s current CMS game lineup includes RollerCoaster Tycoon 3, Planet Coaster, Planet Zoo, and Jurassic World Evolution franchises, in addition to an unannounced Planet game in development.
Chief Executive Officer of Frontier Developments, Jo Cooke, said, “We are delighted to announce this collaboration with Disney, which further reinforces our clearly defined strategy of developing and nurturing world-class creative management simulation game franchises. Our mission with this game is to connect a passionate creative community of players with one of the world’s most iconic and beloved brands, and I can’t wait to see what our talented teams will create with this amazing opportunity.”
Does this finally mean we’re getting a Disney Parks RollerCoaster Tycoon-style game?! We know Disney fans would absolutely love getting to build their own version of Disney Parks and rides. Of course, as of now, there are few details about this game and what it will be about; we’re also hopeful that this partnership could mean more video game-style activities could be coming to Disney Parks.
Back in August, it was announced that the Play Disney Parks app would be retiring in September 2026. The Play Disney Parks app powered many interactive games and experiences around both Disneyland and Disney World.
This app had lots of trivia and games to play in line for attractions. However, it was best known for several interactive games, including Star Wars: Datapad, Batuu Bounty Hunters, and DuckTales World Showcase Adventure. These games allowed you to explore the parks and find actual hidden details that could interact with the app on your phone as you played the games.
As for how this new partnership with Frontier may impact the future of games in Disney Parks — if it will at all — remains to be seen.
We’ll be on the lookout for additional updates about this new Disney partnership. In the meantime, make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and more.
