The 4 Biggest Mistakes to AVOID When Checking In and Out at Disney’s Pop Century Resort
In the nearly a quarter-century it’s been open, Pop Century has become one of Disney World’s most popular Value Tier resorts.
If you find yourself staying at the popular resort, there are some things to keep in mind when checking in, and a BIG thing to remember when checking out.
They Don’t Have an Ideal Room
Before you even check in, you’d be wise to have a good idea where you’d like to stay. For example, if you’d like to be closer to the Skyliner, a room in the area of 4160 is probably ideal. On the other hand, if you want to stay somewhere away from the hustle and bustle-filled areas of the hotel, rooms in the area of 3137 would be a better choice. (Don’t worry, you don’t need to memorize these. We’ve got a full guide for you to use as a cheat sheet).
No matter what kind of room you want, know it beforehand so you can make a special request at check-in. Now, bear in mind, you’re NOT guaranteed that a Cast Member will be able to promise you’ll get your request, but it’s worth a shot.

They’re Not Sure Which Free Water Park to Visit
If you’re visiting Disney World during a period when the free water park perk for hotel guests is being offered — like, say, the summer of 2026 — it definitely helps to know that Typhoon Lagoon is closer to Pop Century than Blizzard Beach. After all, you’ll want to get over to the park as soon as possible after checking in to take as much advantage of the water park as possible, and since every second counts, the closer park may be the better choice.

They Have No Dinner Plan
If you’re arriving late for check-in, like say close to midnight, be wary that both of Pop Century’s eateries — Everything Pop! and the Petals Pool Bar — close around 11 PM (The latter is occasionally open until 11:30 PM during certain times of year). So, if you arrive close to 11 PM, you should eat ASAP, and if you know you’ll be checking in later than that, have a backup plan. Perhaps grab a bite at one of MCO’s establishments if you’re flying in or stop by a drive-thru or supermarket if you’re driving.
Speaking of dining, planning where to eat on your Disney World vacation can feel a bit complicated. That’s where our Guide to Disney World Dining pulls it all together so you can stop stressing and focus on the fun without feeling like you’re missing a thing!

They Don’t Take Advantage of the Airport Luggage Transfer Service
The Airport Transfer Service is beneficial during both check-in and especially check-out from Pop Century.
Passengers utilizing American Airlines, Southwest Airlines, and United Airlines can have their bags delivered directly to the hotel from their flight, and directly from the hotel’s bell station to their flight if they simply do the following:
- Fill out the registration form for the Airport Luggage Transfer at Disney service anytime from 30 days to 5 days prior to your departure flight. You will need your Disney Resort confirmation number and your airline confirmation number when you register. You will receive a confirmation email after registering.
- Check in to your flight online as normal and pay any necessary baggage fees.
- Head to the airport and follow the airline procedure to drop off your luggage.
- From there, the bags will go straight from their flight to their hotel room.
- When returning home, you’ll simply check in for your flight online starting 24 hours before departure and pay any necessary baggage fees via their mobile app or online.
- Drop off your bags at Luggage Assistance in the Resort hotel lobby area by the required drop-off time. Please be aware that you will need to provide a valid government-issued form of photo identification in order to drop off your bags. You can also call Luggage Assistance from your in-room telephone to ask for help with your bags. For a smoother experience, leave all inbound tags on your bags.
- Head to the airport, skip the check-in line, enjoy your flight, and pick up your bags at baggage claim when you arrive at your final destination.
