Everything We Know About Disney World’s Newest Hotel — Lakeshore Lodge

A new Disney World hotel is on the horizon, and we’re breaking down everything we know so far!

Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge is the newest Disney Vacation Club (DVC) hotel being built near Magic Kingdom, and it seems to be coming along quite nicely. Originally, Disney announced as Reflections: A Lakeside Lodge, this project has been a long time coming and has taken several turns over the year. However, as completion nears, we want to go over everything that’s already been confirmed for Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge and what you should expect.

Opening Date

Disney announced that this resort will open in summer 2027, just one year away! Construction has been well underway for a couple of years, and a good chunk of the infrastructure is already visible.

Location

It is set to occupy the former home of Disney’s River Country water park near Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. You can also see the construction of the hotel over at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort. In the photo below, you can see the construction of Lakeshore Lodge in the middle, with Wilderness Lodge to the right and Fort Wilderness directly to the left.

Overall Theme

Per Disney, the brand-new hotel will be “inspired by Walt Disney’s lifelong admiration for the great outdoors, the resort’s design will pay tribute to decades of animated stories rooted in nature, with subtle nods to classic films — from the lush forests of Bambi and the colorful winds of Pocahontas to the sweeping glacial landscapes of Brother Bear.”

Upon arrival, guests will see a one-mile tree-lined vista before seeing the Lodge itself.

Disney shared that this kind of “grand expression” will be noticed through the porte-cochere and the lobby — focusing on nature (complete with skylights and lots of glass).

The Resort Category

We do know that Lakeshore Lodge will be a DVC Resort, and we can expect it to be a Deluxe Resort — featuring similar amenities, quality, and perks as others like it.

Disney IP Influence on Resort

In the concept art, we can see Bambi, Flower, and Thumper from Disney’s Bambi. We aren’t sure if these will be statues or topiaries, or maybe they are just there in the art for fun.

Pocahontas appears frequently, and Disney has promised a healthy blend of natural beauty and Disney representation

The Rooms

Lakeshore Lodge will offer 967 rooms, which will range “from cozy studios to spacious suites.”

Many rooms will feature views of Bay Lake, as well as the Magic Kingdom fireworks.

New one- and two-bedroom Lake Houses will also be located along the waterfront.

Amenities

Lakeshore Lodge’s The Wetlands will offer fun and relaxation amidst spectacular water features, such as the lazy Daydream River!

Lakeside Lagoon will be a zero-entry pool for guests of all ages and is the heart of The Wetlands. It’ll feature a spiral waterslide.

One section of The Wetlands will be dedicated to children, and has been billed by Disney as a place where kids can “become part of nature’s story through whimsical wet and dry play areas inspired by the music and storytelling of Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Pocahontas.” The play area is specifically inspired by the lyrics, “the heron and the otter are my friends” from the film’s beloved song, Colors of the Wind.

Heron Shores will also offer climbing features, while Otter Springs will come to life with interactive water fun. There will also be a scenic path running through the recreation area that lets explorers uncover facts about the plants and flowers surrounding them.

Of course, there will also be a leisure pool located on the opposite side of Lakeshore Lodge, complete with a whirlpool spa and a view of Magic Kingdom’s fireworks.
