ANOTHER Permanent Closure Hit Magic Kingdom
Magic Kingdom is changing constantly these days. Big Thunder Mountain is finally reopened, and Buzz Lightyear is once again saving the galaxy.

In Frontierland, its construction walls as far as the eye can see! Based on what we’re seeing, more might be headed our way because a new closure has arrived.
Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye! You were bigger than the whole sky, Big Al’s. The merchandise stand in Frontierland has officially closed. The closure has been expected for some time, but hours for the stand confirmed it would be closed starting on May 11th.

Disney never formally confirmed this location was closing, or if this is a permanent closure, but we have a hunch it won’t be returning. As we were searching for more information on Disney’s website, it turns out that “someone at the page” for Big Al’s. This means it has been removed from the website.

Does this mean the closure is permanent? We have a feeling it does. That being said, Disney hasn’t confirmed it formally. The stand could be in the process of being moved, or Disney could be changing its name to fit in more with the upcoming Piston Peak land.

That being said, in the concept art for the upcoming land, both Big Al’s and Westward Ho are notably missing. Upon further investigation, we also noticed that Westward Ho doesn’t have hours listed as of June 22nd, which could mean it will also permanently close. (Don’t worry, the Candied Bacon Skewer already has a new home at Golden Oak Outpost).

During our stop in the park today, May 11th, we confirmed the merchandise stand is covered up. We even spotted an IT Cast Member carting away the cash register and POS system. This makes us feel even more strongly that Big Al’s is closed for good.

RIP Big Al’s!
Piston Peak is the park’s upcoming Cars-inspired land. Disney has yet to reveal an opening date or timeline for this new area, but construction is well underway! This area is replacing Tom Sawyer Island and the Rivers of America, which closed in July 2025.

While we’re sad to lose even more classic pieces of Frontierland, we are excited for what this could mean for the future of the new land and Magic Kingdom. As always, be sure to keep following DisneyFoodBlog for more Disney news, updates, and more.
