CONFIRMED: Big Changes Might Be Coming to Epic Universe
Epic Universe could be implementing a huge change in the near future, and we need to talk about it!
Epic Universe!
Universal Studios Orlando uses Photo Validation for entry at their parks at the resort. Now, Universal dropped news that Photo Validation will be expanding and will be used at Epic Universe portals. Let’s dive into what we already know!
Photo Validation at Universal is a system that scans your face upon park entry or at the lockers, and it’s used to confirm that you are the ticket holder. It eliminates the need for carrying a physical ticket, losing a ticket, having to log in digitally, all that good stuff.

Now, when we say that Photo Validation is coming to Epic Universe, we aren’t just talking about the main entrance to the park (although that will be one spot). Instead, Universal stated that this new system will be used at each of the four portals.

Ok, we’re all wondering the same thing. Why do we need Photo Validation to enter portals when you don’t need a ticket to enter the portals? That’s a very valid point! The best way to figure this out is to just check what Universal said exactly.

On the Universal website, it says, “To keep your passage easy, you can use Photo Validation for Effortless Entry whenever Virtual Line return times are being used.” The only thing is that up until this point, no “Virtual Line” has been used, so we aren’t entirely sure what this means.
“It’s Alive! It’s Alive!”
This could indicate that Universal is possibly expecting a spike in attendance that could require Virtual Lines to keep the portals and lands at a good crowd level. If you haven’t been to Epic Universe before, the lands are a little smaller than you’d expect in terms of how much of a crowd they can hold.

The summer is right around the corner, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see Epic Universe crowds go up, especially since the park will officially be one year old. The Virtual Line that they’ve stated could be to make sure those summer crowds are calm. There’s also the chance that maybe crowds could pick up with the addition of Epic Universe Annual Passes, but we really don’t know.
