SPOTTED: Disney World Is Wasting NO Time on the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Transformation at Hollywood Studios

Disney World is wasting absolutely no time getting started on the transformation of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster from Aerosmith to The Muppets.

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is closed!

On March 2nd, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith permanently closed to make way for the new Muppets version of the ride, and while we’re sad to see another Disney World OG close, we’re excited about what The Muppets will bring to this ride! On a recent trip to Hollywood Studios, we spotted yet another sign that this ride is changing — and it’s a pretty big one if you ask us!

Planning guide for the ultimate Disney vacation

On a recent visit to Hollywood Studios, we noticed some changes over in the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster courtyard! The entrance to this ride has always been marked by an upside-down car, teasing riders with what’s to come on this attraction. It’s typically been light blue (or silver, depending on who you ask), just like the original ride vehicle…

The original car

…but now, it looks like some super sweet flames are being painted on the car!

The NEW car!

At the moment, it looks like the flames are only on the back of the car, so this may be just a test to see how it will look before Disney decides to make this a permanent change. We think it looks pretty good so far, though!

Check out those flames!

The day after the ride closed, we saw that the wording had already been taken off the guitar in the courtyard! We can see where it used to say “Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith,” likely because it was on there for so long, so it left a lasting mark.

The guitar

Based on the concept art for the new attraction, it looks like the guitar itself will stay, but it’ll be painted to better match The Electric Mayhem’s iconic van’s color scheme. It’ll also get the new name for the attraction.

Disney has shared that Scooter, as band manager, along with the penguin audio engineers, will be working hard to get Electric Mayhem to make it on time to their concert! They confirmed this will be the first time Scooter has ever been imagined as an audio animatronic and that he might not be the only one in the attraction. However, they said we will have to learn more about that at a later date.

Throughout the attraction, we will be getting a VIP tour of G-Force Records, which is under new management by The Muppets! We’ve also been warned that G-Force Records has a snazzy new look now that Scooter’s uncle, real estate tycoon and owner of the Muppet Theatre, J.P. Grosse, is in charge.

We’ll be on the lookout for even more changes at Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster and Hollywood Studios. In the meantime, make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and beyond!
