In 2027, ESPN is hosting Super Bowl LXI, and they are wasting no time preparing. The day after the Seahawks beat the Patriots at Super Bowl LX, Disney and ESPN dropped their first campaign called “We’re Going!” It’s over a year away, but this has made us so excited!
Disney and ESPN are headed to the Super Bowl! The new ad, which debuted on Good Morning America, takes the classic “I’m Going to Disney” campaign and turns it around. The commercial opens with that iconic first commercial starring Phil Simms in 1987 before switching to Woody and Buzz from Toy Story, saying they wish they could go to the Super Bowl.

Buzz says, “Maybe we can,” before chaos ensues! Buzz launches into the air before a ton of rapid-fire cameos kick off. Fans can see characters like Darth Vader, Iron Man, Frozen’s Anna, Elsa, Sven, Olaf, and Kristoff, Moana, Deadpool & Wolverine, Grogu, Stitch, The Muppets, Zootopia’s Judy Hopps & Nick Wilde, Bart Simpson, R2-D2, and C-3PO! Even Peyton and Eli Manning make an appearance, encouraging the boys to “be on their best behavior.”

In the end, tons of characters race along Route 66 as Lightning McQueen says, “See you in 2027!” Tinker Bell flies in to reveal the Super Bowl LXI logo. 2027 will be the first year that ESPN hosts the Super Bowl, so it’s no surprise they’re starting off a year in advance. Tina Thornton, Executive Vice President, Creative Studio and Marketing at ESPN, shared that this commercial is just the beginning. She said, “‘We’re Going’ is just the beginning of a year-long adventure to our first Super Bowl. It sets the tone for how we’re approaching Super Bowl LXI — by bringing together the storytelling power of Disney with the scale, voice, and passion of ESPN. Together, it allows us to build momentum, create emotional connection, and bring fans with us every step of the way.”
