Mickey Mouse Is Calling. You NEED These 6 Unique Character Restaurants on Your Disney Bucket List!

Character dining has been an essential part of the Disney theme park experience for decades, with the very concept of a character meal becoming synonymous with trips to the company’s resorts. These days, there are dozens of character meals spread across Disney’s worldwide properties, and it can be overwhelming to try to choose which to book.

Dopey!

We’ve scored all of Disney’s resorts worldwide — Disneyland, Walt Disney World, the Disneyland Paris resort, the Tokyo Disney Resort, the Hong Kong Disney Resort, and the Shanghai Disney Resort to pinpoint the most unique character dining experience at each of them.

Planning guide for the ultimate Disney vacation

Disneyland: Minnie & Friends Breakfast in the Park at the Plaza Inn

Believe it or not, there is only ONE character dining experience located inside Disneyland. Yes, the Disneyland Resort overall has a few more at its hotels, but guests wanting to dine with characters inside Disney’s first theme park have only one choice: The Minnie & Friends Breakfast at the Plaza Inn on Main Street.

The meal includes a buffet filled with made-to-order omelets and Minnie waffles, French toast, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, breakfast potatoes, fresh-baked pastries, and so much more, along with views of Sleeping Beauty Castle. Characters appearing at breakfast include Minnie Mouse — obviously — as well as a rotating array of Disney characters.

Disney World: Story Book Dining at the Wilderness Lodge’s Artist Point

Due to its massive size, Walt Disney World features the most character dining experiences of any Disney Resort, including iconic spots like Cinderella’s Royal Table, Chef Mickey’s, and ‘Ohana. However, the title for the most unique of these experiences goes to Story Book Dining at the Wilderness Lodge.

Hi, Snow White!

Dinner features appearances from Snow White, Grumpy, and Dopey, along with a menu fit for royalty, including Royal Prime Rib Roast, Brother’s Grimm Herbed Chicken, Magic Mirror’s Slow-braised Pork Shank, Beef Stroganoff, Fish of the Day, and the vegetarian A Stroll Through Nature—featuring asparagus, leeks, arugula, and gnocchi. All of that is, appropriately, topped off by the “Poison” Apple, a dark chocolate-apple mousse, and the Fairy Tale Gooseberry Tart and Miner’s Treasures.

Disneyland Paris: La Table de Lumière at the Disneyland Hotel

The Disneyland Hotel is incredibly unique in its own right, as the Main Street-themed hotel serves as the entrance to the Disneyland Paris theme park. It only makes sense that it would house the resort’s most unique character dining experience: La Table de Lumière.

Staged in a space “inspired by the iconic Hall of Mirrors in the royal Palace of Versailles”, this Beauty and the Beast themed meal features Disney Prince and Princess characters interacting with guests as they enjoy “a rich variety of fine-dining dishes inspired by the finest offerings of French cuisine and from around the world.”

Tokyo Disney Resort: Duffy and Friends’ Wonderful Friendship at the Cape Cod Cookoff at Tokyo DisneySea

This experience isn’t a traditional character meal, as it’s more of a dinner and show concept. However, it’s absolutely a can’t miss unique experience given that it features Duffy and friends, including ShellieMay, ‘Olu Mel, StellaLou, and Gelatoni, who are preparing for a party by “harnessing their respective strengths to draw pictures, make decorations and more.”
