Cast Member “Recovering” After Injury During Popular Disney World Show

A Disney World Cast Member was harmed by a stunt at the Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular.

The Cast Member stepped between the crowd to stop a runaway fake prop that weighs 400 pounds, according to the BBC. The Cast Member is now recovering.

The incident happened in one of the first scenes of the show when a prop boulder begins to roll down a ramp towards Indiana Jones, which is a recreation of a scene from Raiders of the Lost Ark. The incident was filmed, and it shows the fake boulder veering off course before bounding off the ramp towards the crowd.

The Cast Member then jumps between the prop and the audience to stop it from bounding into the crowd. In a statement released shortly after the incident, Disney shared, “We’re focused on supporting our cast member, who is recovering. Safety is at the heart of what we do, and that element of the show will be modified as our safety team completes a review of what happened.”

In the video, the Cast Member doesn’t immediately get up after being hit. At that point, several other Cast Members are seen running to his side. Disney has previously shared that this boulder weighs up to 400 pounds and is made of rubber.

On the day of the incident, one of the shows was canceled, and Wednesday’s show didn’t include the boulder prop, according to the Associated Press. According to the Disney World website, the show is still playing with showtimes at 10:45 AM, 12:00 PM, and 1:15 PM. The show follows stunt actors as they break down and recreate the stunts performed by Indiana Jones and Marion in the famous films. We’re glad to hear the Cast Member is recovering.
