Why January 5th is a HUGE Day at Disneyland Resort
Churros. Mickey ears. Pin trading. There are so many parts that go into a Disneyland day that every day of your vacation might feel like a HUGE milestone. Personally, my favorite part of any Disneyland day has to be the rides. I’m ready to climb into Pirates of the Caribbean and prepare for that ride photo.
If you’re heading to Disneyland in January, you might have your list of attractions you need to ride. Well, you might want to reevaluate that list. Some rides are going down for refurbishments, but don’t worry, we have all the details here!
First up, Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind will be closing on January 5th, according to the Disneyland calendar, with no current reopening date.
This attraction is generally not the most unique ride you’ve ever been on, and you can find other similar spinning rides like Dumbo the Flying Elephant. It is located right on Pixar Pier in Disney California Adventure and has super cute theming, but we don’t think this is going to put too much of a damper on your trip.
Grizzly River Run will also be going down on January 5th in Disney California Adventure.
This water raft ride can get you WET, so it’s probably not your top ride to hop on in January. There’s also no reopening date for this attraction, but when it does, make sure you grab your rain poncho before climbing in. Looking for another water ride option? Check out Tiana’s Bayou Adventure!
Oh no! This is a big one! The Incredicoaster will be closed for refurbishment on January 5th. The calendar also does not list an opening date.
The Incredicoaster is Disneyland’s big roller coaster (shoutout to when it was California Screamin’) and is the only roller coaster at the Disneyland Resort with an upside-down loop. While they might not be as thrilling, a few of my favorites are the Matterhorn Bobsleds or Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, but they are both tamer than the Incredicoaster.
You can find all the current operating hours for every attraction on the Disneyland calendar by searching for the specific ride you want to check out. We recommend taking a peek before heading to the parks so you aren’t filled with disappointment as you see that “closed” sign in front of the queue.
The Pixar Place Hotel is located right by Disney California Adventure and has a walkway straight to the park. Unfortunately, starting January 5th, this entrance will also not be available. Don’t worry, you’ll still be able to get to the parks and can appreciate the close location, but you will have to go through the normal entrance with the rest of the guests.
A hotel perk is going away, too! Early Entry will no longer be available on January 5th. Instead, guests who are checked in and staying at one of the Disneyland hotels will have one Lightning Lane entry to a Lightning Lane Multi Pass attraction during their stay. Instead of being able to access the park 30 minutes early every morning, you’ll just have the single Lighting Lane instead.
