NEWS: Park Passes SOLD OUT for Magic Kingdom the Last Week of December

If you’re planning on spending Christmas or New Year’s at the Most Magical Place on Earth, we hope you’re ready for those CROWDS!

Magic Kingdom

While Disney World did away with Park Pass Reservations for most date-based tickets, Annual Passholders and select other groups are still required to make reservations. The holiday season is known for being one of the busiest times of the year in the parks, and it looks like park passes are already SOLD OUT for Magic Kingdom from Christmas Eve to New Year’s.

Heads up, Disney fans! Park Pass Reservations Are Currently SOLD OUT for Magic Kingdom from December 24th (Christmas Eve) through December 31st (New Year’s Eve). As of now, New Year’s Day remains open with passes still available.

Holiday crowds

For now, Magic Kingdom is the only park where passes are sold out, so you still have the opportunity to make a reservation at another park and hop over to Magic Kingdom – assuming it doesn’t reach capacity. We have seen Magic Kingdom and EPCOT reach capacity around Christmas and New Year’s in the past, so keep that in mind if you’re trying to plan a visit.

If you are planning on park hopping during the holidays, make sure you double-check that the park you’re heading to hasn’t already reached capacity! Disney has a handy-dandy phone number you can call to find out if any parks are sold out before you waste your time hopping to a park you can’t get into. Just call (407) 560-5000, and a prerecorded message will let you know if any parks have reached capacity.

We definitely recommend utilizing Lightning Lanes during the holiday week. Single Pass, Multi Pass, and Premier Pass will all come in handy if you’re trying to maximize the number of rides you want to experience. This way, you won’t have to deal with those long standby line waits.

If you don’t want to dish out the extra dough for Lightning Lanes, your best bet will be to rope drop the parks (get to them before they open so you’re ready to go once they do), stay late into the night when folks with young kiddos have left, or try to ride attractions during mealtimes, parades, or even fireworks (assuming you don’t care about seeing those)!

It’s a great time to visit Disney World, though, with all the festive decor and celebrations happening throughout the resort. Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at Magic Kingdom, Jollywood Nights at Hollywood Studios, and the EPCOT Festival of the Holidays are all great ways to get into the holiday spirit.

We’ll be on the lookout for additional Park Pass Reservation updates you need to know about from Disney World. In the meantime, make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and more!
