Is Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party in Disney World Worth the PRICE?

Something we look forward to every year in Disney World is Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party in Magic Kingdom, and we know a lot of you do too!

It’s full of holiday cheer, special snacks you can’t get anywhere else, lots of wonderful entertainment, and the ability to ride some of your favorite attractions at much lower waits than normal. However, we have to admit that we understand why some people are skeptical about attending the event, because it’s FAR from cheap. It’s actually the most expensive after-hours event Disney has seen in recent years, so you may be asking yourself: Is the party ticket REALLY worth the cost? Let’s dive in and see.

Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party takes place on select nights from November 7th through December 21st, and tickets cost $169-$229 per person, depending on what night you go. Children aged 3-9 will cost $10 less per ticket, no matter what day you go, and Annual Passholders and Disney Vacation Club members can also save $10 a ticket.

Party guests can enter Magic Kingdom at 4 PM, but the party itself runs from 7 PM to 12 AM. When it comes to special entertainment and opportunities you can experience during the event thanks to your ticket, here’s a quick look at what you’ll get:

Jack and Sally

Four Magic Kingdom attractions also feature special holiday overlays that are only available during the event — Mad Tea Party (a special holiday song), Space Mountain — Holiday Run*, Tomorrowland Speedway Race Through the Holidays, and Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor. While Jungle Cruise is also the Jingle Cruise during the party, this is also available throughout the day during the holiday season.

You also have the option to make dining reservations to experience the event, and while we don’t necessarily recommend it, as it takes time away from other party-exclusive activities, the restaurants available are:

Is It Worth It?

So there you have it — all that you can experience at the event this year. We went on opening night and got to experience the event firsthand, so if you were to ask us how we feel, we’d say yes. Although the party ticket is pricey for what essentially is less time in Magic Kingdom than you would get with a day ticket, Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party allows you to do more things in that time with shorter waits and fewer crowds. If you’ve never done it before and it’s a bucket list item for you, it’s going to be worth the splurge.

However, at the end of the day, it’s completely up to you if this party is going to be worth it for you and your family. If you all don’t mind staying up late, love the holidays, and feel you can make the most of the party by trying the specialty snacks, riding some of your favorite rides, and enjoying some of the unique entertainment, then it absolutely may be worth it for you!

However, if you’re not a big fan of the holidays, or maybe you’re not someone who can stay up late (or you’ve got young kiddos who you know will really struggle with it, even with a nap during the day), this may not be the best event for you. It’s a LOT of money to drop, so we really suggest looking at some reviews from the event, whether it be from this year or previous years, to get a feel for whether this would be something you’d enjoy.

We’ll be sure to keep you updated on all we hear about the holiday season in Disney World, so be sure to stay tuned to DFB!
