A Big Ride Change Hits Disney World This Week!

If you’re someone who goes to Disney World year-round, there are some things you need to prioritize during the holiday season. Something that needs to be on top of your “must-do” list is ride overlays! These are special twists on your favorite attractions that are usually only here for a limited time.

The Jingle Cruise is back!

The holidays bring fun overlays, some massive ride changes, and some small differences that might take you a second to catch. Here are the holiday overlays at Disney World!

Planning guide for the ultimate Disney vacation

First up, we have the Jingle Cruise in Magic Kingdom! This is your holiday take on the Jungle Cruise, where the Skippers tell seasonal jokes and the queues, boats, and animals have decked the halls. The wait times for this ride can get super long, so you might want to grab a Lightning Lane or rope drop the attraction.

Also in Magic Kingdom, you should take a trip up the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse. The organ usually plays Christmas music instead of its usual tunes, and this usually changes around the beginning of December, so keep an ear out!

Heading to Hollywood Studios, don’t skip Frozen Sing-Along. The show transforms into a holiday version, with Olaf coming out at the end to help celebrate the festivities. Of course, Frozen lovers will need to watch this, but it’s also a fun, 30-minute show where you get to sit inside for a bit.

Alien Swirling Saucers also gets a chance! They switch back and forth between Christmas songs and normal Toy Story songs, so you don’t know which one you’re going to get.

In EPCOT, this change is probably my all-time favorite. At Journey Into Imagination, Figment changes over his sweater to his Christmas one during the sound scene. Yes, it’s small, but yes, it’s adorable and worth the ride. It usually changes at the beginning of the EPCOT Festival of the Holidays, which starts on November 28th (ahhh, it’s so soon!!!).

He’s very festive now

Those are our ride changes, but you shouldn’t forget to check out some characters! We saw Chip and Dale in Hollywood Studios, wearing their caps and scarves.

VERY excited for their new outfits

DinoLand U.S.A. is in the middle of a major transformation into Pueblo Esperanza, so we’ll be slowly losing our dino fun. Last year, we were able to see some of our besties in their DinoLand outfits with a Christmas twist, and while we’re not sure this will happen this year, Mickey and Minnie in Adventure Outpost usually have Christmas outfits, too.
