This Could Be a GAME-CHANGER for Liberty Tree Tavern in Disney World

If you’ve ever dined at Liberty Tree Tavern in Magic Kingdom, you know it’s one of the coziest and most underrated restaurants in Disney World. But did you know it used to be a character meal? We’ve got a doozy of an idea that could transform this restaurant and we’re betting every Disney fan will jump on this train with us!

Liberty Tree Tavern

Tucked away in Liberty Square, this Colonial-style tavern serves up a family-style feast of roasted turkey, pot roast, stuffing, and mac and cheese. It’s basically a Thanksgiving dinner, 365 days a year — what more could you want? The warm wood tones, flickering lanterns, and Revolutionary-era décor make it the perfect escape from the Florida sun, and an ideal setting for a bit of nostalgic Disney to return.

See, way back when, Liberty Tree Tavern was actually a character dining experience, featuring beloved Disney characters dressed in Colonial garb. Can you imagine meeting Mickey, Minnie, and Goofy in their 18th-century best, greeting guests in each of the tavern’s themed rooms? It was a charming and unique experience that perfectly fit the spirit of Liberty Square, and it’s something many longtime fans still remember fondly.

Now, with Disneyland Resort introducing Mickey’s Christmas Carol Feast, we can’t help but think that Liberty Tree Tavern would be the perfect place for Walt Disney World to bring a similar concept to life. The restaurant already oozes holiday charm, from its hearty menu to its old-fashioned atmosphere, so layering in a “Christmas Carol” overlay featuring Mickey as Bob Cratchit, Scrooge McDuck as Ebenezer Scrooge, and Goofy as Jacob Marley would feel like a natural fit. Imagine sipping hot cider while characters in Dickensian costumes stroll through the dining rooms! I mean Disney World, can we bring this dream to life already?

A holiday event like that could truly be a game-changer for Liberty Tree Tavern, giving it a new seasonal draw and creating one of the most immersive holiday dining experiences in all of Disney World. It would celebrate nostalgia, storytelling, and the timeless appeal of Disney’s classic Christmas tale, all within one of Magic Kingdom’s most thematically perfect restaurants.

If you’re looking for a lot of food at a decent price (at least for Disney World), you’re going to get it here. But the food here is also good, with those traditional holiday flavors you love. Of course, we’d come here just for the Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake if they’d let us, but the rest is pretty pleasing, too. Note that if you can’t get a reservation at Liberty Tree Tavern, you can get the same meal at Diamond Horseshoe in Frontierland (which may be easier to get into).

Here’s hoping Disney is taking notes from the West Coast, because if Mickey’s Christmas Carol Feast ever made its way to Liberty Tree Tavern, it might just become the must-do holiday meal of the year.
