NEWS: U.S. State Department Issues New Travel Advisories

The United States Department of State has issued new travel advisories that you may need to know about if you’re planning any upcoming trips.

Beware of travel advisories before you venture on your trip!

Travel advisories are typically issued when there are warnings about happenings in countries that travelers need to heed. While these new travel advisories do not impact Disney vacation destinations, they could still be worth knowing about for any travel plans you might have in the future.

Planning guide for the ultimate Disney vacation

The U.S. Department of State recently issued new high-level travel advisories for two countries: Madagascar and Sudan. The Madagascar advisory, which was issued on September 27th, is a Level 3, meaning that travelers should “Reconsider Travel” to the country altogether. The description says crime and unrest are the main reasons for this advisory.

The travel advisory for Sudan was updated on October 15th, and is a Level 4: Do Not Travel. This advisory is due to crime and unrest, armed conflict, terrorism, landmines, and health concerns.

For reference, below are the different levels the State Department uses as part of these travel advisories:

  • Level 1: Exercise Normal Precautions
  • Level 2: Exercise Increased Caution
  • Level 3: Reconsider Travel
  • Level 4: Do Not Travel

While these advisories don’t impact any Disney travel destinations, we have seen advisories issued for Disney destinations in the past, so make sure you double-check the State Department’s website for the most updated information — or check back here for more updates.
