WARNING! Another Part of EPCOT is Under Construction
Just when you think Disney World might have revealed all the changes they could be coming to the parks and hotels, they throw another curveball!
EPCOT Moana parking lot
We feel like we’re in the aftermath of a whirlwind of information and news Disney just released during Destination D23 about its parks, hotels, cruise line updates, and more, but it seems the changes don’t just stop there. EPCOT’s also just kicked off one of its busiest festivals of the year, which tends to draw even MORE visitors to the park during these months. But, if you’re planning on driving yourself, there’s one glaring change that you want to be aware of beforehand!
The changes just keep coming for EPCOT, and now that we’re fully in the swing of EPCOT’s Food & Wine Festival for 2025, you might find yourself planning a couple of days to be able to experience it all. In between the food booths, festival overlay to Living With The Land, and the recent closure of Spaceship Earth for a refurbishment, there’s another big change happening right now you’ll need to take notice of.
2025 EPCOT Food & Wine Festival
EPCOT is currently in the process of resurfacing parts of its massive parking lot. While this update might not directly affect where you specifically park (unless you’re parking in the accessible areas), you’ll certainly feel its trickling effects.
EPCOT parking lot
We noticed the Moana section of the parking lot, which is right up next to the entrance before you reach security outside the park and monorail’s gates, is currently in the process of being resurfaced and blocked off. This will allow crews the time they need to complete the update and repaint the parking space lines and walkways once again before they can let visitors park in this area.
Parking lot construction
If you’re someone who normally parks in this area, don’t worry — there’s another accessible parking section also towards the front of the park where you will be directed to with your accessible placard on display or acknowledged on your license plate. If you need extra space for ramps or medical equipment, make sure you let a Cast Member know so they can help park you with the space you need blocked off. Preferred parking will be located just behind the accessible parking, allowing these two groups to be parked as close to the front of the parking lot as possible.
Resurfacing in progress
Here’s where everyone else might feel the effects of this change. For now, since a good chunk of the parking lot is under construction, you’ll want to be more alert and more patient when parking at EPCOT. Since this is a change for those who are used to parking in the affected areas, there’s a good chance Cast Members may direct them across your stream of traffic to get them parked in the correct areas. This could mean a little extra time to get parked where you will eventually settle within the parking lot’s other parking areas, so we’d suggest allowing more time for parking and getting into the park to get on with your day’s plans.
Parked machines in the morning
We’re not certain how long this resurfacing of the parking lot could take, or if EPCOT plans to work on other sections of the parking lot after they’ve completed this one. However, if you’re planning on visiting over the next few weeks, we certainly think it’s a good idea to plan for this to be ongoing and leave yourself a little extra time to plan accordingly.
