Disney Fans Are Suddenly Flocking to the Japan Pavilion for One Reason Only

Something stinkin’ adorable and SO MUCH FUN has arrived in the Japan Pavilion.

EPCOT’s Japan is filled with yummy cuisine and beautiful scenery, but above all else, it’s known for its incredible merchandise. The Mitsukoshi Department Store gift shop here is the only place you’ll find items themed to Pokémon or based on Nintendo games and characters, and it’s also a great spot to shop for some truly unique snacks. But now, one of the best souvenir options in the Japan Pavilion is actually located outside the gift shop.

A little while ago, the Japan Pavilion surprised Disney fans by adding a station of vending machines selling gachapon. What is gachapon? They’re small capsule toys sold by Bandai that are popular in Japan. There, you’ll find vending machines like these around the country.

In the Japan Pavilion

The little kiosk is located beneath Katsura Grill on the ground level of the pavilion, and it has several different vending machines with dozens of toy options! Simply pick whichever one interests you and press your luck to get the toy you want.

Mystery time!

There are several different popular IPs available, as well as some without specific character themes. Seriously, it would take ages to collect them all!

So many options

The toys come unassembled, so you get the fun of building them yourself. We went for one of the Hello Kitty toys, and after we built it, discovered that it’s Cinnamoroll! They turn out really cute, and they’re a fun and unique souvenir to take home from your trip.

We love that Disney’s offering this peek into Japanese culture, and we’ve seen lots of fans using the machines so far. Hopefully, we’ll see more cultural activities like these in the World Showcase pavilions in the future!
