We Just Went INSIDE The NEW Beak and Barrel Lounge in Magic Kingdom, and We Have So Much To Show You!
It’s finally happening! Disney World’s new lounge, Beak and Barrel, is opening SOON in Magic Kingdom.
The Beak and Barrel!
Now we’ve been anxiously awaiting a chance to look inside this Pirates of the Caribbean-themed bar, which will offer some fun food and drinks (plus it’s bringing back the whole octopus tentacle thing). Well, we FINALLY got a chance to pop inside and see it for ourselves, and we are bringing you with us! So let’s go inside Beak and Barrel together!
Of course, like everything Disney does, Beak and Barrel has a story. This one is about how a legendary pirate rumrunner, Captain Meridian “Merry” Goldwyn, set up this “lively pirate pub” we know as the Beak and Barrel. This pirate’s first mate, Rummy, is the tavern’s quartermaster and will keep an eye on everything from a roost at the top of the establishment.
The sign!
You’ll also see Rummy, who looks a lot like Barker Bird, who flew the coop from his post at the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. Rummy is here to help oversee the goings-on at Beak and Barrel. They even shared an adorable video online so you can see how he moves throughout the room.

The main dining room, called The Mess, was once a mess hall for Spanish soldiers, but it is now ironically available for pirates and would-be pirates to “gather ’round and tell their own tales.” In this room, Disney warned to look at the ships’s bell. They shared, “Rumor has it this bell was from Captain Redd’s first ship, gifted to Merry at the tavern’s founding. Some say they’re close friends, or perhaps fierce rivals.”

There’s also a huge bar, “cobbled together from salvaged portions of a cursed shipwreck,” with a ton of incredible details, aptly named the Cursed Bar. At the center of the bar, there is an Enchanted Rum Bottle. Disney shared it was “Gifted by a powerful enchantress, the tavern’s barrels and the pirates’ cheer will never run dry as long as the bottle stays full.” A nod to Tia Dalma, maybe? PLUS, it literally looks like a pirate skull. How cool is that?
The Cursed Bar!
The Captain’s Quarters once served as the living quarters of the Spanish Comandante. Here you’ll find fine art and drapery, marked by years of being subjected to pirates.

On top of the mantel, you can find two miniature ships in glass bottles. Disney warned us, “Ye need to be on the lookout, as these here small vessels are known to come alive and engage in a fearsome bottle-bound battle for any who dare to watch.”
A closer look!
You can also find the Captains’ Booths! Each of the booths tells stories of the “exploits of notorious pirates, whose legends still echo across the seas.”

There are four “grand booths” in case you were hoping to captain the ship.

To the left of the main bar is the Mapmaker’s Room, which is marked by a large hole made by a cannonball (and you’ll see other cannonballs embedded in the walls nearby). This room was originally locked, so the pirates thought outside the box to get inside (they blew a big hole in the room’s wall). Will you find all of the pirate secrets on the map?

There are SO many details, and we can’t wait to break them all down ASAP.
The details!
We are so excited about the opening of this lounge on August 29th, and we just know everyone is going to love it as much as we do! We’ll also be covering the food and drinks here (because that’s what we do), so stay tuned for more! Ahoy, mateys!
