REVIEW: We’re on Version 3.0 of Magic Kingdom’s Apple Cider Doughnuts. Are These the BEST Ones Yet?

Halloween time is in full swing at Disney World! Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party officially kicked off on August 15th, and the event runs on select nights through October 31st. In addition to trick-or-treating, character meet and greets, and special entertainment, you can also grab a variety of treats throughout Magic Kingdom.

We are making a stop at The Friar’s Nook to try the Not-So-Poison Apple Doughnuts. We tried to grab these guys on the first night of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, but they were out by the time we got over to the restaurant to try them. But we are back for another round, and this time we got the chance to try this treat! The Not-So-Poison Apple Doughnuts cost $6.49. They are apple cider doughnuts rolled in apple cider sugar and drizzled with caramel sauce.

Now, Disney is saying that these are new, but we have seen a couple iterations of a similar treat already. Apple Cider Doughnuts first made their appearance at The Friar’s Nook coated in green sugar, and then a bit later they were changed to being rolled in white sugar. Now it appears that they are taking a third form being rolled in red sugar!

We are happy to report that they are still just as tasty being coated in red sugar! These are little pillows of fall flavor, and we can’t get enough of them. The doughnuts had a bit of a crispy curst on the outside, while being soft and fluffy on the inside. The apple cider sugar added a bit of spice, a bit of apple flavor, and a bit of sweetness.

While it might look a bit dense on the inside, it is actually surprisingly light and fluffy with a light apple cider flavor to the doughnut itself. Then you top it all off with a drizzle of caramel sauce. It adds even more sweetness and a hint of buttery, gooey caramel flavor. We kind of wish they had the caramel sauce on the side so you can decide how much you want, but overall, we are huge fans of these doughnuts. However, there isn’t a big difference between the Apple Cider Doughnuts offered during the daytime and these party exclusive doughnuts. So, we don’t think you need to prioritize grabbing these during the party if you are strapped for time!
