Pack Smarter

Traveling with checked luggage is about to get more expensive.

Southwest Planes

This year, Southwest Airlines ended its 60-year tradition of letting passengers check two bags for free, and bring a personal item and carry-on on board. So much for “Bags fly free..”, as now Southwest charges flyers for their first and second bag, making packing way more difficult.

Rapid Rewards A-List Preferred Members and customers traveling on Business Select fares still receive two free checked bags. A-list Members and other select customers also receive one free checked bag. Rapid Rewards Credit Card members can still check one bag for free.

However, everyone else will need to rely on carry-on bags or make better spatial use of one checked bag if they want to minimize spending.
