This Simple Change Would Make Disney’s Slinky Dog Dash 10X BETTER

Alright, Disney World — we have some notes.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios is home to some incredible — and wildly popular — attractions, including the Slinky Dog Dash family coaster. Featuring a few launches to entice thrill-seekers but no big drops or inversions, this coaster is a fan-favorite (and its Toy Story theming is top-notch). However, we do have some minor complaints and suggestions on how to make the ride even better.

First and foremost, we have to talk about Slinky Dog Dash’s big queue problem — the lack of shade.

The queue is fun, but on hot days where the sun is really out, it can get miserable.

We would love for Disney World to add more shade to this line, which can get pretty long (so you’re really standing out there for a while).  The majority of the wait is also outside in the sun. By adding more shade, we think the wait for this ride would be 10 times better.

Speaking of long waits (which can be some of the longest in all of Hollywood Studios), we’d like Slinky Dog Dash to introduce anything that would speed up the wait times or increase capacity (which in turn would shorten waits).

By adding more capacity to the ride vehicles, more people could board at one time, and (naturally) the line would move along quicker.

This is a tough ask, though, as it would require some severe rethinking of the ride and its functions. Adding coaster cars to the track or redesigning current vehicles changes the science and safety protocols, essentially making it a different ride experience. We get it if Disney can’t accommodate this suggestion, but, wow, can those long waits be off-putting.

Finally, we’d like to see maybe a little more high-quality theming on the ride. The whole experience theming is very charming, with plenty of images calling back to the Toy Story franchise and Andy’s toy box.

The audio-animatronic of Wheezy is also super adorable, so we can’t complain.

We just wish that after waiting 100+ hours, you get just a little more interactive elements or cool animatronics here and there. Overall, the theming is very fun on this ride, and we’re nitpicking a bit…but hey, the payoff would make the wait that much more worthwhile.
