SNEAK PEEK Behind-the-Scenes at the NEW Villains Show Coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Disney World just got another major update!

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Over in Hollywood Studios, we just got our first glimpse into the brand new show, Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After! We’ve seen concept art, we’ve watched for casting auditions, and Disney has finally given us a look inside the theater, and one character is almost ready to go.

The Disney Villains are moving in soon! In case you missed the latest announcement, Disney recently revealed that the new show will be opening on May 27th, 2025. In preparation for the show’s premiere, we also got a look inside the theater from Disney Live Entertainment.

The video not only lets us see the progress of the theater, which was previously Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy, but it also shows us that one of the main characters is almost ready for the show. What character is that? The Magic Mirror, of course!

In the concept art for the show, you can see that the Magic Mirror is center stage. However, in the time-lapse video, Disney Cast Member Tyler says, “Wait a second. We need to get the Magic Mirror on the wall,” before you see the frame of the mirror being put into place above the stage. We can probably assume the Mirror character will potentially shift spots throughout the show.

The show plans on bringing to life tons of Disney Villains, with the show focusing on Captain Hook, Cruella de Vil, and Maleficent. The story is that the villains have broken through the Magic Mirror, and they want the audience to decide which of them has received the most unfair treatment!

Hi Captain Hook!

Guests will be able to see dozens of their favorite baddies throughout the show. When we did a deep dive into the concept art, we found 57 different villains! The show is set to open the same day as another new show, The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure.

This show, while technically new, is a revamped version of The Voyage of the Little Mermaid, which was previously in the same location and has been closed since 2020. This new show will feature live performers, puppets, and is inspired by the animated version of The Little Mermaid. We’ve also gotten a behind-the-scenes look at this show, which we first watched back in January 2025.

May 27th is a big day for the park so you can pick your poison (apple), next time you’re ready for a show break. As always, be sure to keep following DisneyFoodBlog for more Disney news and updates!
