NEWS: Opening Date Announced for New Attraction in Disney’s Hollywood Studios

We have BIG news coming at you from Disney’s Hollywood Studios! The park that brought us an eerie hotel and Wookiee hugs, is about to become the home of a REVAMPED attraction. 

Big news for Disney’s Hollywood Studios!

We’ve been waiting for this moment for YEARS and it is finally here! “The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure” (a reimagined version of the “Voyage of the Little Mermaid” show) finally has an official opening date and we’ve got all the details right here.

Drumroll please…“The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure” will officially be opening on May 27th, 2025!

“The Voyage of the Little Mermaid” has been closed since 2020 and “The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure” is the NEW attraction that will replace it. Announced back in 2023, nearly two years later, the show is FINALLY a reality.

This reimagined show is inspired by the original animated classic from Walt Disney Animation Studios — The Little Mermaid. (A.K.A., it’ll be based on the original animated film, NOT the more recent live-action retelling.)

Musical numbers like “Part of Your World,” “Poor Unfortunate Souls,” and “Kiss the Girl” are set to be part of the updated show.

We can’t wait to join Ariel again in Animation Courtyard!

The show will feature live actors, puppets, digital animation, and even some live motion capture integrated together to fully replicate the underwater setting. Some characters might even feature a mix of all of these styles.

The Little Mermaid: A Musical Adventure

The show is being re-told almost entirely from Ariel’s point of view. Even the set and stage are “inspired by the way a teenager would decorate their walls.” The show will feature two Ariel-centric songs that weren’t in the original show — “Daughters of Triton” and “Kiss the Girl.”
