Disney+ Quietly Updates Subscriber Rules — Here’s How It Will Impact You

Disney+ is updating its subscriber agreement soon; here’s how the change might affect your subscription.

The changes to the subscriber agreement took effect on January 27th, 2025, for new subscribers and will be effective beginning March 24th, 2025, for current subscribers (unless you acknowledge an in-app notice prior).

The updates include adding Hulu to the subscriber agreements for everyone, even if those terms may not be relevant to you. Some other changes include “adding information regarding billing and payment processes, and reflecting that you may “pause” your subscription.”

The change to allow subscribers to “pause” their Disney+ subscription rolled out to subscribers back in November 2024. The pause feature could allow subscribers to stop paying for their subscription if they won’t be able to watch for a while, or you can also pause until the next season of your favorite show comes out!

The agreement will also be updated to clarify that specific titles and types of content will include ads for everyone, even if you are paying for “no ads” or “ad-free” subscription tiers. Disney has also included a reminder that they aren’t responsible for the content of “destinations outside of the Disney+, ESPN+, or Hulu sites, or for third-party ads, materials, products, or services,”

Finally, the update also clarifies that the same arbitration agreement will apply to Disney+, ESPN+, and Hulu. While a lot of the updates to the subscriber agreement are to clarify certain aspects, it is always important to pay attention when a subscriber agreement changes.
