You’ll NEVER Guess Where Disney’s NEW Droids Ended Up!
When you think of a Disney Cruise, you probably think about a sunny destination, tons of food, and relaxing.
What if your fellow cruisers were not just humans but also droids? The Disney Wish is home to a few Star Wars-themed areas, including the Hyperspace Lounge and an area dedicated to all things out of this galaxy in the Oceaneer Club. While these spaces are made for humans to enjoy, who says that droids also don’t deserve a vacation sailing the high seas?
Walt Disney Imagineering has been hard at work creating new and exciting technology, like wandering BDX droids! Previously, these droids could be seen roaming around Disneyland’s Galaxy’s Edge.
The first time they made their park debut, Disney said that they were only in a testing stage and may not return. They did, however, come back to Batuu at Disneyland for Season of the Force last year. These droids are controlled with a two-joystick controller and learn through “reinforcement learning.” The droids have had to learn how to walk and go through different balancing situations to walk around the park. It is a good thing that these droids have learned how to balance, as they had to get used to having “sea legs” on their latest adventure.
In a recent post on X, @DisneyParks shared that the BDX droids got to cruise on the Disney Wish!

While it is super cool that the BDX droids made another appearance, it was sadly only a one-time thing, as the post says that this is a “once-in-a-lifetime journey.”
We hope that these guys will be able to make another appearance at Disney World’s or Disneyland’s Galaxy’s Edge in the near future!
South by Southwest (SXSW) is coming up in March, and Disney has a tendency to show off some pretty cool technology. At SXSW 2023, Disney showed off their impressive Judy Hopps robot.
Animal Kingdom‘s Tree of Life will soon be home to a new show called Zootopia: Better Zoogether, which is set to open this winter! Could this impressive Judy Hopps robot be part of the show? We will just have to wait and see!
The technology that Walt Disney Imagineering has been creating is quite exciting, and we hope that these projects they are working on continue to make their way to the parks and even the high seas aboard Disney Cruise Line!
