The One Rule We Wish Disney World Transportation Would Actually Enforce
There are a lot of free transportation options in Disney World to help you get around.
From trains, boats, buses, and more, you can get where you need to on Disney property. We love the free transportation but there are some pitfalls you might run into. If you are going for the first time, you’ll want to watch out for common mistakes people make. If you are a veteran, you know how some transportation issues can arise.
If you’ve been following along with us at DisneyFoodBlog, you might know we have a complex relationship with Disney buses. They aren’t always the quickest mode of transportation and sometimes, they can be unreliable with their schedule. But, they are free and we are grateful for that! If you’ve rode a Disney bus, you know there are certain rules you must follow like no smoking, you must fold up a stroller, and more. But there’s one we’re really all begging Disney to be more strict with this one.
That is to enforce a maximum capacity for the buses. Now, we’re not saying that they are breaking a rule, but sometimes those buses feel pretty crowded. You might have experienced this where you’ve had a long day at the parks, and you board a bus just to stand up on the ride with others crowded around you — it’s really not fun.
It would be so nice, especially on those hot Disney days to have more space on the buses. But we understand bus drivers are trying to take as many people as possible because what is more frustrating than being left behind waiting for another bus to show up? Of course, if you don’t want to be on a crowded bus, you can always wait for the next one — although, there is no guarantee that the bus won’t fill up too.
Buses tend to be more crowded first thing in the morning as they start their routes to the parks and they will get very crowded after the park closes. So what can you do?
Buses start running about an hour before park open, so we suggest being at the bus stop early if you are looking to rope drop. You could always sleep in and avoid the crowds. At night, take your time walking to the front of the park as it is closing. This will allow some of the crowd to die down. You can also check to see if there are other options to travel back to your resort like a boat.
