CONFIRMED: Disney Has Started Construction on Its NEW Animal Kingdom Land
Disney Parks will always be changing because that was part of Walt Disney’s original idea for the parks. However, that doesn’t mean that change isn’t bittersweet.
This month, we begin to say goodbye to DinoLand, U.S.A. in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, as the land begins its phased closure to make way for a NEW Tropical Americas-themed land, Pueblo Esperanza. Now that parts of DinoLand, U.S.A. closed, Disney has confirmed that construction has officially started on the new land.
Yes, Disney has confirmed that construction has started on Pueblo Esperanza, which will transform DinoLand, U.S.A. into the Tropical Americas. An official groundbreaking ceremony was held today to kick off construction. This pile of dirt is “the start of something new” (yes, we meant to quote High School Musical…).
Disney has done a lot of research on the Tropical Americas, which Imagineers will use in creating the new land.
Pueblo Esperanza will bring new attractions to Animal Kingdom, including Disney’s first ride based on Encanto, which will take visitors inside the family Madrigal’s magical Casita. The boat ride will begin just as Antonio has received his special gift and his room transforms into a rainforest. You’ll explore the Casita with him, and “You never know what member of the family you might bump into…” Maybe even that family member we don’t talk about!
The land will also feature a brand-new Indiana Jones ride. The new Indiana Jones ride will feature a new story following Indy’s discovery of a perfectly preserved Maya temple. You’ll go on a wild ride through the temple with “the man with the hat.”
The new land will also feature a giant carousel “sculpted by a local woodworker.” Some familiar animals will be featured on the carousel, including Kevin from Up.
Disney has not yet revealed an opening timeline for Pueblo Esperanza, but the company has stated that the existing Dinosaur ride will remain through 2025 in case you want to “go get that dino” one last time before it permanently closes.
