NEW RULES for Tower of Terror That Disney Adults Are Begging For
When you’re choosing a Disney World park to go to based on the rides alone, you really can’t go wrong with going to Hollywood Studios.
You’ve got some of the top rides at this park – Rise of the Resistance, Slinky Dog Dash, Rock ‘n’ Rollercoaster, Tower of Terror, and the list keeps on going. Speaking of the Tower of Terror, we think there’s a couple of new rules that could be added to this ride, so let’s go over them!
Mandatory Silence in the Pre-Show
Let’s all agree – Rod Serling deserves respect. That iconic pre-show is a masterpiece of suspenseful storytelling, complete with Serling’s chilling narration and a perfectly timed lightning flash, and yet, every time we’re there, someone talks right over it.
It’s always something like:
- “Wait, is this based on a real show?”
- “This is just like that one movie!”
- Or worse, people trying to do bad impressions of Rod Serling while he’s literally speaking.
So here’s the deal, if you talk over the pre-show, you don’t get to ride. Boom. End of discussion. Your seat in the elevator goes to someone who can keep quiet and soak up the atmosphere. The spookiness of the ride starts before you even step into that rickety elevator. Don’t ruin it for everyone else.
No Trying to Spook Other Guests
Look, as we were saying, the Tower of Terror is already creepy on its own. Disney’s Imagineers did their job so well that we don’t need Chad in his Mickey ears trying to sneak up on us or yelling “BOO!” right before the drop sequence.
We know you think you’re hilarious, but the ride is scary on its own. It doesn’t need your help. And while we’re at it, let’s talk about fake screaming. You know who you are. The ones who start screeching as loud as possible during the queue or even in the ride photo just to get attention. We see you, and it’s not giving what you think it’s giving.
Tower of Terror already does a fantastic job of delivering heart-stopping moments. Just let it do its thing without adding your amateur spook tactics.
Ban All Loose Hats
I’m sure that there are probably enough baseball caps floating around the top of the Tower of Terror to open a small theme park gift shop. Every ride, we see someone holding their hat down like it’s a prized possession only to give up halfway through the drop sequence.
Let’s make it simple: Say it with me (like Edna Mode) “No hats.” Not even the ones that “totally fit snugly.” You’re not fooling gravity, and we all know how this ends. It’s time to save cast members the headache of hat-retrieval duty and preserve your beloved merch.
If you insist on wearing your hat, maybe consider storing it securing it in your bag before the ride starts. Otherwise, we’ll see it in the void.
Reward Guests Who Can Quote Rod Serling Perfectly
You know what would be a vibe? Recognizing the true fans who can recite the pre-show monologue word-for-word, down to the perfect cadence.
If someone can do that flawlessly (and let’s emphasize flawlessly), they should get first dibs on the next elevator. Or maybe a free souvenir, like a Tower of Terror pin or a second chance to ride it without having to dive back into the queue. These are the people keeping the ride’s legacy alive, and they deserve a little extra magic for their dedication.
Now, we think these new rules should apply to Disney World’s Tower of Terror, but what do you think? Let us know what rules you would add to Tower of Terror down in the comments below.
