Wait, What Is Going On? EPCOT Is SOLD OUT Today, and We Think We Know Why

When it comes to ranking the popularity of the Disney World parks, EPCOT doesn’t usually make the top of everyone’s list.

Sure, it’s popular right now thanks to the EPCOT Food & Wine Festival (and you can read ALL about that here, as well as read all our food booth reviews), but today, EPCOT is popular for an entirely different reason. So, what’s going on? Why is EPCOT the ONLY park that’s sold out today when it comes to park pass reservations? Well, we think we have a clue.

Here’s a hint: “Do you remember…The 21st night of September? Love was changing the minds of pretenders. While chasing the clouds away.” If that seems familiar, it’s a song called “September” by Earth, Wind & Fire. It’s one of the songs you can get when you ride Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind in EPCOT. Well, today IS September 21st, and as a special treat, that’s the ONLY song that’s going to be playing today on the ride!

This song is, apparently, so popular that those Disney World visitors who need park pass reservations have COMPLETELY booked EPCOT for the day. That includes Disney World visitors without a dated park ticket…

…as well as Disney World Annual Passholders. Yep, they were so excited to get that song during the ride that EPCOT is completely SOLD OUT for the day.

So, if you find yourself in EPCOT today, you might see more people than usual. We’d also recommend trying to get that virtual queue at 1PM when it opens back up for Cosmic Rewind. However, we’ve got some bad news if you were thinking about getting a Lightning Lane Single Pass (Disney’s pay-per-ride service): it’s also completely sold out.

So today, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is Disney World’s most popular ride! All because of a song. WILD.
