REVIEW: 2 NEW Disney Snacks Are a HIT, But This Third One Is a SKIP

It’s Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort which means new merch, experiences, and treats!

Halloween Time at Disneyland

We’ve been reviewing all the Halloween treats available at Disneyland this year and so far it’s been a solid showing at the resort! For our latest review, we headed over to Disneyland Park’s Main Street U.S.A. to try some spooky snacks and we have plenty of thoughts!

For our review, we visited Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe to try the Jack-O’-Lantern Mickey Pumpkin Macaron and Hazelnut Brownie Tart With Chocolate Frosting, as well as Refreshment Corner to pick up a Philly Potato Dog. Without further ado, let’s see if they’re worth haunting the park for or if these snacks scared us away!

Jolly Holiday

Let’s start with the Jack-O’-Lantern Mickey Pumpkin Macaron for $8.29 at Jolly Holiday!

Jack-O’-Lantern Mickey Pumpkin Macaron

This dessert is a pumpkin macaron shell filled with caramel buttercream and pumpkin cheesecake.

The macaron wasn’t too crumbly and managed to stay in one piece, surprisingly! The cookie aspect had a hard shell but was soft inside and the filling was mostly a sweet caramel flavor with hints of pumpkin. The buttercream was cool with a light and creamy texture and, overall, this was way lighter and more pleasant than we were expecting!

A spooky, yet tasty treat!

Pumpkin and/or caramel lovers should give this a try while those opposed to both flavors should probably look elsewhere for a Halloween snack.

Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe

Speaking of other Halloween snacks, next we tried the Hazelnut Brownie Tart with Chocolate Frosting for $5.49!

Hazelnut Brownie Tart with Chocolate Frosting

This treat is made with hazelnut spread and brownie filling topped with chocolate frosting and sprinkles.

The crust was nice and buttery. We found it to have a rich chocolatey taste throughout, but not enough hazelnut since the interior brownie flavor overpowers the hazelnut. Still, this is a great chocolatey treat! We did enjoy this more than the macaron and love that it’s so affordable!

Cheap, yet delicious

If you’re craving a rich and heavy chocolatey dessert, this is the snack for you. If you’re not a chocolate lover, this is unlikely to win you over. We ADORE chocolate, so this dessert was a big win.

Refreshment Corner

The lone treat we tried at Refreshment Corner was the Philly Potato Dog for $13.79.

Philly Potato Dog

Modeled after a Philly cheesesteak, this snack is made with a baked potato, all-beef hot dog, thinly sliced beef, peppers, pepperoncini, provolone, and cherry spread.

Our first impression was that this thing looked a mess — almost akin to dog food. Still, we wanted to give it a fair shake and we were pleasantly surprised. the all-beef hot dog is very tasty, hearty, and delicious on its own. The baked potato “bun” was fluffy and baked perfectly with a nice buttery flavor. Our beef was a bit dry but tasted better when blended with everything else.

The main complaint was that there was too much going on here. The spread flavor doesn’t really give cherry and there was some hidden spice that wasn’t expected. Also, this is not a great snack to eat during a hot day, as it’s super filling and full of ingredients that work better in fall and winter weather. We ate ours on a scorching hot day and we felt the ramifications after.

It looks gross but tastes solid

With all that said, the individual ingredients were all very good and we enjoyed eating each piece individually. Also, the portion size is humungous, justifying the price and making this a solid value. You can definitely eat this for lunch and feel satisfied. This isn’t a traditional Philly cheesesteak, so it might not appease you if that’s what you’re looking for. However, adventurous eaters may like this, as will people who want a hearty hotdog or tasty baked potato.
