5 Spots That Are WEIRDLY Empty in Disney World (Even When Everywhere Else Is Disgustingly PACKED)
Let’s face it — Disney World can get seriously crowded, especially during busy times of the year like holidays, school breaks, and long weekends.
But, even if it feels like you can’t escape the throngs of people everywhere you look, there are still certain places you can run off to if you’re looking for a bit of peace and quiet. Even when everywhere else is disgustingly packed in Disney World, you might find that these spots are still weirdly empty!
We’ve all been there — it’s crowded in Disney World and all you want is to take a break without it being so…people-y. These are some of our favorite spots to escape to even when the rest of the parks are disgustingly packed.
Morocco Pavilion
The Morocco Pavilion at EPCOT is a hidden treat and we almost don’t want to give away our secret hiding spot, but if you enter the pavilion and turn to your left, you’ll find a doorway leading into a separate area. Here, you’ll find the Fez House, and it’s a beautifully decorated recreation of an authentic Moroccan home.
But, that’s not the only peaceful place in the Morocco Pavilion. This one goes back pretty far, and because of that, people don’t always know that there’s a whole hidden area and bar back here. It’s often pretty empty and there are even tables and chairs for you to sit back and relax at.
Tom Sawyer Island
Tom Sawyer Island is technically an attraction, but it’s sort of its own Magic Kingdom land as well. You can get to the island by riding on a log raft, and you’ll return to the rest of Magic Kingdom in the same way. Because of this, folks often skip over it in favor of other, potentially more exciting attractions.
But, while you’re there, you can explore the area on dirt paths and bridges and look for secret caves along the way. There’s also Fort Langhorn, which is a playground for kids (and adults if you’re up for it!) and is a great way to let them run off some steam if they need it. Just keep in mind that Tom Sawyer Island closes earlier than the rest of the park, so plan accordingly!
Imagination Pavilion
The Imagination Pavilion in EPCOT is home to the Journey Into Imagination with Figment ride, but after you leave the Imagination Institute on your ride with Figment you’ll step into the Imagination Pavilion. It’s home to the Mickey shorts theater, an exclusive Visa meet and greet, and a grassy area where you’ll sometimes find Winnie the Pooh hanging out.
There’s also a Figment meet and greet inside, but it’s not too popular these days which means you can explore the air-conditioned pavilion and take a break at your leisure. Just tell Figment we said, “Hi!”
Mickey’s PhilharMagic
Mickey’s PhilharMagic is a 3D movie offering and it is truly a magical experience in Magic Kingdom. Don your glasses and take a seat and be prepared to be immersed in classic Disney songs! And, chances are you might be one of the only people in the theater when you do. While this is technically an attraction as well, it’s not a very popular one.
But, it is air-conditioned, often free of people and kiddos running around, and makes for a great place to take a nap! Not that we’re speaking from experience or anything. The next time you’re looking for a bit more space or just some peace and quiet, consider knocking out an attraction like this at the same time!
Tree of Life Gardens
Over at Animal Kingdom, the Tree of Life Gardens are a peaceful trail surrounding — you guessed it — the Tree of Life. You’ll find plenty of walkways through some beautiful stone carvings and shaded areas, and you might pass by a few animal exhibits during your visit as well.
This area doesn’t have any specific seating area, though there are some benches along the pathways here and there. We’ve often found that the Tree of Life Gardens don’t get a whole lot of traffic since folks are busy trying to experience the rest of the park, making it a perfect spot to take a break. Our favorite thing to do is grab an iced coffee and take a nice stroll in the morning!
