REVIEW: Golden Dreams at the 2024 Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival

Coffee? ✅ Cocktails? ✅ Creative beverages inspired by breakfast foods? ✅ Sweet frozen treats inspired by cocktails?✅

Golden Dreams Booth

The Golden Dreams food booth is checking off a lot of our creative culinary fantasies today at the 2024 Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival.

Menu

Over at the Golden Dreams, you WON’T find savory snacks or heaping plates of cheese, noods, or fried delicacies. But you WILL find some super creative and refreshing beverages and treats that just may make you rethink how you view your morning breakfast beverage or after-dinner sweet treat.

2024 Menu

Now that we’ve taken a look at the menu, let’s dive into the food itself!

Drinks

In terms of drinks on this menu, we got a few to sip, savor, chug, and enjoy! First up is the new kid on the menu block, the Fig Matcha Latte, for $7.

Fig Matcha Latte

The Fig Matcha Latte is made with matcha, soy milk, and coconut and simple syrups topped with a fig oat sweet cream and garnished with matcha powder. This is a non-alcoholic option, so anyone who’s a coffee and matcha fan can enjoy this one!

It’s VERY green

We’re sorry to say it, but we did not love this one. As a tea, it’s fine, but the flavor is so earthy that you have to REALLY appreciate a matcha flavor to enjoy this drink. It’s got a thick (rather unpleasant) texture, and ultimately, the combination of coconut milk with matcha powder just didn’t come together for us. It’s not terrible by any means, but unless you’re a big matcha drinker, we recommend trying something else.

Next up is a tasty little beverage that is new to this booth but a returning offering that we’ve found before over at the Berry Patch last year. This is the Blueberry Pancake Cold Brew for $7.25.

Blueberry Pancake Cold Brew

This drink is a Joffrey’s Coffee & Tea Co. Mexico Origin Coffee, with maple, brown butter & demerara syrup, oat milk, and a blueberry sweet cream (made with cream, oat milk, vanilla syrup, blueberry syrup, and purée). This coffee is garnished with cinnamon-flavored cereal crumble.

How does it taste this year?

Last year, when we first tried it, we thought it was a smidge underwhelming. It was fine, but a berry and coffee combo is not the absolute best mix we’ve ever tried. However, it’s not super strong, so if you’re a cold brew fan, then it might be worth a try.

And finally is the new Peach Cobbler Cocktail for $17.

Peach Cobbler Cocktail

This drink is made with moonshine, peach and amaretto liqueur, peach nectar, condensed milk, vanilla and cinnamon syrups, and lemon juice garnished with frozen peaches. Honestly, if Southern hospitality and charm could be concentrated into a cocktail, this might be it!

Here’s a closer peek at the Peach Cobbler Cocktail

It basically tastes like a boozy peach cobbler. That sweet peach flavor is the most prominent, and the cinnamon gives it that rich dessert taste. The moonshine in this drink makes it pretty strong, but all the sweet, fruity flavors make the drink go down smoothly. This was a WINNER — we loved this one.

OVERALL

During our visit, there was a problem with the refrigerator, so we didn’t get the chance to try the Frozen Old Fashioned here. That said, after trying three drinks, we can say that one is a WINNER, one is fine, and one is rather polarizing. If you’re looking for a sweet Southern cocktail, do yourself a favor and get the Peach Cobbler Cocktail. The other two drinks here are fine, but nothing that will knock your socks off.

Full Drink Spread

That’s it for this booth, but there’s a LOT more where that came from!
